Every spring, the Gochang On Spring Festival takes place at Gochang Changgokwon, the first regional garden in Gyeongnam. Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions, delicious food, entertainment, and hands-on experiences all in one place.
In this article, we will focus on the experiential activities available at the festival.
As you enter the central square, you are greeted by beautiful flowers.
Along the edges of the central square, there is a range of experience booths.
We visited a booth operated by the Gochang Education Support Office.
One popular activity allows participants to plant succulents in pots, creating their own companion plants, while another activity involves creating 3D landscapes depicting spring in Gochang, which is a hit among children who love drawing!
Creating a unique plant pot doll that harmonizes with plants was done using recycled plastic. Participants first crafted the doll and then planted their chosen plants to complete the project.
This meaningful experience taught us how recycled materials can be used and what we can do to help the planet.
Another intriguing experience was making a Sotdae, a traditional wooden pole, to wish for the village's prosperity, which many attendees enjoyed.
The flower petal pouch-making activity was especially popular among women, as they immersed themselves in the delightful fragrance while creating their pouches.
All activities at the Gochang Education Support Office's booths were free, leading to high satisfaction among participants.
The Arim Flower Producers Association also offered flower arrangement experiences and beautiful flower purchases.
In the grassy plaza, there were plenty of other experiences and attractions to enjoy.
At the Healing Farm, visitors could try their hand at bracelet knotting, and on Flower Day, they could participate in making flower snacks.
One of the activities involved creating herbal foot soak salt using various ingredients like Dead Sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, herbs, flowers, and essential oils to promote health.
During the organic herbal tea-making session, we crafted a soothing tea using chamomile, lemon balm, and lavender to help with restful sleep.
We also explored the 7th Gochang Arimia Flower Festival, themed 'Molding the Moon, Light, and Flowers of Millennium Arim.'
The model of the 1,000-year-old Arim Forest showcased its ancient beauty.
There's even a slow mail turtle mailbox where you can send warm messages to friends and loved ones.
