Exploring the Tranquil Yeonam Geological Ecological Park in Chungcheongbuk-do
As the summer heat lingers despite the arrival of autumn,
the mornings and evenings bring a refreshing breeze.
However, the midday sun still shines brightly.
Today, I want to introduce you to Yeonam Geological Ecological Park,
a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll amidst nature.
Located in Doan-myeon, Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do,
the park has transformed the Yeongsu Reservoir area
into an ecological healing space.
Surrounded by rocks that date back billions of years to the Precambrian era,
the park features geological formations from the Mesozoic era,
including igneous and sedimentary rocks from the Cretaceous period.
It is more than just a waterfront park; it offers diverse rock formations
and geological structures, making it a serene retreat.
After parking conveniently at the nearby lot,
I began my enjoyable walk.
The well-maintained deck path wraps around the reservoir,
making it perfect for a light stroll with family.
Thanks to the exceptionally sunny weather,
the blue sky and lush mountains appeared even more vivid.
With a pleasant breeze and cool shade,
it was a refreshing way to enjoy summer.
During my walk, I encountered vibrant nature,
with dragonflies hovering over the water and schools of fish swimming.
The chestnuts and acorns hanging from the branches
signaled the quiet approach of autumn.
Benches and resting spots along the path provided places to relax
while enjoying the view of the lake.
Sitting for a moment, I felt the weariness of daily life wash away.
As I reached the middle of the reservoir,
I crossed a swaying bridge that spans Yeongsu Reservoir.
I first turned my attention to the view from the embankment,
where a refreshing panorama unfolded.
In the distance, I could see the beautiful mountains of Jukusan and Chilbongsan,
along with the scenery of Jeungpyeong city.
Beneath the embankment lay green fields,
and deep forests toward the reservoir beckoned me to return
in autumn to see the red leaves and ripening rice.
After enjoying the view from the embankment,
I continued along the deck path.
With rock samples and informational signs along the way,
I enjoyed my walk without a dull moment.
Next, I crossed the park's landmark, the swaying bridge.
It swayed more than I expected, adding a thrill to the experience.
The crossing is short enough for children and seniors to navigate safely.
After completing a circuit of the deck path,
I explored the rock garden, where various rocks are gathered.
Observing these natural formations up close,
I concluded my fulfilling stroll.
