Must-Visit Places in Goesan County
As autumn arrives, many people look for cosmos flower spots. There are numerous famous cosmos attractions in South Korea.
However, this year, seeking a quiet walk away from crowded festival sites, I visited the lesser-known yellow cosmos at Dongjincheon.
The Dongjincheon yellow cosmos has not been introduced as a famous tourist spot, so there wasn't much information available online.
Even though I had to retrace my steps during my first visit, I couldn't help but wonder why I hadn't discovered this place sooner.
Let me share my experience in the order I walked.
To get there, you can search for Goesan Agricultural Technology Center on your navigation or enter the address: 669 Seobu-ri, Goesan-eup, Goesan-gun, Chungbuk.
Since it is not an official tourist site, there are no signage or dedicated parking areas.
You can park your car in an open space near the Agricultural Technology Center and head down the embankment path, where the flower fields begin.
I arrived on a weekday morning and had no worries about parking; even on weekends, it is not a crowded place.
As I walked a few steps down the embankment, I was captivated by a resting area and the endless waves of yellow flowers.
Unlike the common pink cosmos, the yellow cosmos featured a much richer and warmer color.
The orange-tinted yellow petals, when kissed by sunlight, made the entire field glow softly.
With every breeze, the flower stalks swayed, and witnessing this alone felt like a precious moment.
The only sounds were the shutter clicks and the flowing water of Dongjincheon!
Typically, flower fields are bustling with people from the entrance, but during my visit, I encountered only a handful of visitors.
This allowed me to stand in front of the flowers without feeling guilty for taking my time.
In these times when waiting is often the norm, encountering such an entirely empty landscape felt like a rare blessing.
Capturing photos here is akin to cherishing memories in your heart.
I noticed families taking pictures in the flower fields, and perhaps due to the positive energy of the flowers, smiles were abundant.
Since the path is mixed with dirt, wearing sneakers was comfortable for walking, and I recommend wearing a light long-sleeve shirt in the afternoon due to some insects.
There are no nearby convenience stores or cafes, so it's best to bring water.
The blooming period varies each year, but if you visit now, you can enjoy the full bloom.
Note that the dirt path may be muddy the day after rain, so choosing a clear day a day later will ensure a pleasant walk.
The charm of the Goesan cosmos trip lies in having time to reflect in tranquility.
While famous festival sites are often crowded, here I could walk for a long time among the yellow waves without any interruptions.
If you're looking for a quiet flower path this autumn, I highly recommend visiting the Dongjincheon yellow cosmos in Goesan.
