Jinju Jinyangho Lakeside Observatory Cherry Blossom Bloom
Address: 146, Namgang-ro 1beon-gil, Jinju, Gyeongnam
Parking Information: Free parking at Jinyangho Zoo
Date of Visit: Friday, April 17
This week, I visited the cherry blossom viewing spot in Jinju with my daughter. The observatory was undergoing renovations, but it was opened temporarily in time for the cherry blossoms to bloom. Thanks to this, we enjoyed a safe and delightful flower viewing experience in April.
A handy tip for parking is that the closest parking lot is the free parking lot at Jinyangho Zoo. We were lucky to find a car leaving just as we arrived, so we parked successfully.
There was also a spacious parking area in front of the zoo entrance, where an elderly gentleman was directing traffic, allowing cars to move quickly.
There were signposts everywhere, making it easy to find the Jinyangho Lakeside Observatory.
The path leading up to the observatory wasn't too steep. Even a little gentleman from a daycare was able to climb up confidently.
Along the way, we noticed a sign indicating that the renovations are expected to be completed by the second half of 2026. However, they opened the area temporarily until April 20 for the cherry blossom season, allowing us to enjoy it comfortably with my daughter.
This is a real-time photo of the cherry blossoms we encountered for the first time this year. Walking while looking up at the sky, we were greeted by beautifully blooming flowers that looked like they could burst like balloons if touched. Despite the rainy and cloudy weather this weekend, the photos still captured a lovely atmosphere.
Wanting to see the cherry blossoms up close, my daughter and I decided to head up to the observatory.
There were some important notes when going up to the observatory: no riding on scooters, motorbikes, or bicycles is allowed, so please keep that in mind.
Next to the path, there was also an electric sprayer for insect repellent. It was very easy to use; just press the button, pull the trigger, and spray it on your arms, legs, and clothes.
Once we reached the observatory, we could observe the flowers even more closely. While we couldn't touch them, it was much easier on our necks. The white and light pink petals were truly healing just to look at.
From the observatory, we also enjoyed views of Jinyangho Reservoir, which turned out to be filming locations for dramas like "1 Night 2 Days" and "Survivor: 60 Days." We even struck a pose mimicking actor Ji Jin-hee for a moment.
After coming back down from the observatory, we gazed at the pink blossoms. I lost track of time while daydreaming at their beauty.
My daughter, who is currently in her teenage years and prefers using her phone in the car, seemed glad she followed her mom and enjoyed taking pictures during our time there. On our way back to the parking lot, even though a lot of petals had fallen due to the heavy rain starting Friday, there were still plenty of blossoms to capture beautiful photos. If you haven't visited the Jinyangho Lakeside Observatory yet, it's open until April 20, so hurry and enjoy the cherry blossoms!
