Exploring the Beauty of Dansan Samseonsan Arboretum
At this time of year, the most beautiful white hydrangeas bloom in the Dansan Samseonsan Arboretum, a must-visit destination in Dangjin. This arboretum is a representative travel spot in Dangjin where visitors can enjoy various experiences and relaxation in nature.
With over 1,160 species of plants, the arboretum features a giant sand playground, a water play area, a suspension bridge, and a large playground, along with a café offering simple meals and drinks.
Not only does it serve as a public arboretum for plant research and conservation, but it is also a great outing spot for families with children of all ages. The white hydrangea path is particularly stunning, with around 90% bloom rate as of June 28, making it a perfect place for memorable photos.
As you walk along the flower path, you'll be amazed by the beauty of the white hydrangeas, making it an ideal location for capturing life’s special moments. The path can be found just a short climb from the entrance, where white hydrangeas stretch endlessly along the side path.
Even on weekends, the area is not overly crowded, allowing for peaceful photography. Visiting in the afternoon is recommended for better lighting and more beautiful photos, as the path is shaded in the morning.
While all four seasons are beautiful at the arboretum, I personally love this season the most. You can observe not only the white Annabelle hydrangeas but also blue hydrangeas blooming throughout the garden.
The hydrangeas are scattered around the arboretum, making it fun to spot different varieties while strolling. Despite it being late June, the weather was pleasantly cool, making our leisurely walk enjoyable without needing a fan, thanks to the abundant shade from the trees.
During my visit, I discovered the suspension bridge for the first time. Crossing it was thrilling, as the bridge swayed beneath my feet. The visitor center nearby displays a sign indicating that the arboretum has been designated as a "national plant conservation institution."
The visitor center also has a café where you can enjoy affordable drinks like Americano for 3,000 won and iced Americano for 3,500 won.
There is a net bed in the children's forest experience area, where I listened to the rustling leaves in the wind. My child seemed to share the same feeling, saying, "Mom, I love the sound of the leaves brushing against each other in the wind." It was a heartwarming moment, feeling nature's embrace together.
The ecological pond at the arboretum is home to various wetland creatures and toads, with little minnows and fish visible as well. As the season progresses towards summer, the lotus flowers are starting to bloom, adding to the diverse aquatic life to observe.
The sand playground features a large wooden structure that sparks children's imaginations, allowing them to enjoy playing in the sand under a spacious shade. Parents planning to play in the sand with their kids should bring sand toys.
Additionally, there is a water play area set to open in July, making it a perfect facility for children to enjoy during summer vacation. The playgrounds are well-equipped, and seeing such excellent facilities makes the taxes feel worthwhile.
The Dansan Samseonsan Arboretum is the perfect outing location for parents raising children near Dangjin. My child had a wonderful day playing in the cool shade of the trees, and I felt like we both grew a little closer that day.
At the entrance of the arboretum, there is a café and convenience store called "Samseonsan Convenience Store," where you can cool off and enjoy simple meals and snacks in a clean indoor environment. They sell cup noodles, ice cream, snacks, coffee, cakes, and pizza, making it convenient for a quick meal.
In summary, the Dansan Samseonsan Arboretum is a fantastic place to spend a day, especially with the upcoming summer vacation for kids.
