To get to the observatory, we first need to find the entrance to 'Chopyung Bungeo Village', where delicious scents will greet you.
From there, follow the winding Chopyung Road up the mountain.
The road can be steep and narrow, so drive carefully.
I visited on a relatively quiet weekday, allowing me to drive slowly up the mountain road and safely arrive at the observatory.
During my visit, it seemed like they were constructing a trail around the observatory.
While the view is already fantastic, once the trail is completed, it will attract even more visitors looking for a healing experience.
To fully appreciate the geomorphology of the Korean Peninsula, I made my way to the observatory.
Its unique design, inspired by a dragon ascending to the sky from the center of the Korean Peninsula, is captivating from afar.
As I climbed the stairs to the observation deck, I felt a gentle sway with each gust of wind.
Thanks to the reassuring safety notices indicating no structural issues, I felt at ease.
However, due to its spiral design and considerable height, those with a fear of heights might find the ascent a bit daunting.
My companions, who were also afraid of heights, took cautious steps as we climbed.
Upon reaching the observation deck, the tension melted away, replaced by a refreshing sense of awe.
Before us lay the vast blue Chopyung Reservoir, surrounded by endless turquoise mountains.
The resemblance to the actual Korean Peninsula was astonishing and fascinating.
It felt like a natural artwork, perfectly depicting our country, which is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
As the cool breeze swept over us, all the accumulated stress seemed to vanish.
This refreshing sensation made me realize that there is no better place to beat the summer heat.
Right next to the observatory, there is a hiking trail leading to the famous Duta Mountain in Jincheon.
If you have some time or wish to immerse yourself further in nature, I recommend hiking to the Samhyeongja Rock or the main peak.
