A Magical Evening at Geumwonsan Forest Music Festival
Hello! The past few days have been scorching hot, with temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius. To escape the heat during the vacation season, I visited the refreshing Geumwonsan Natural Recreation Forest!
At the entrance of Geumwonsan Natural Recreation Forest, there was a golden monkey statue.
Inside the forest, the clear air and the sounds of birds created a healing atmosphere. A very special festival, the '18th Geumwonsan Forest Music Festival,' was held here, adding a touch of romance to the midsummer night.
This year's music festival featured themes like 'Fixed Star,' 'Shooting Star,' 'Comet,' 'Fox Star,' and 'Morning Star.' The day I attended was the 'Morning Star' stage, filled with sparkling artists.

Before heading to the forest house at Geumwonsan, I visited the outdoor water play area, which operates from July 15 to August 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The festival kicked off with an energetic performance by the 7080 rock band 'Wow Band,' which is based in Geochang. The familiar and exciting rock sounds echoed through the forest, quickly heating up the audience.
In the middle of the performance, a fun event was held where the band members searched for the person who traveled the farthest to the concert, giving away sunscreen as a prize. A lucky attendee from Ulleungdo won!
Interestingly, there was also an audience member who came all the way from Jeju Island, showing that the popularity of the Geumwonsan Forest Music Festival has reached nationwide. Most attendees seemed to be from the Daegu area or nearby regions, enjoying the rock music together.
As the performance continued, the audience clapped along to the song 'Let's Go Traveling,' a must-have summer anthem.
After the energetic performance by Wow Band, a light-hearted rock-paper-scissors game was hosted by the MC, with a prize of a 3,500 won package of 'Jjapaguri.' The lively interaction brought laughter as the audience reacted to the prize.
The second stage featured the tap dance team 'Steps,' known for delivering exciting rhythms across the country. A female tap dancer engaged the audience, asking if anyone had experienced tap dancing before, leading to laughter as some recalled seeing them last year at the same festival.
During the performance, one of the female members shared the history of tap dance, describing its origins during the 18th-century American slave trade and how enslaved people used their bodies to communicate rhythmically.
After learning about this historical context, the tap dancers' movements felt more profound and meaningful. The performance included pop music tap dance, unaccompanied tap dance, and audience participation, making it a delightful experience.
The final act of the festival featured singer Jo Hyun-min, who won the JTBC show 'Hidden Singer 2.' With his charming personality, he entertained the audience, sharing a humorous story about his family trip to Geumwonsan.
As the festival concluded, the MC's closing remarks resonated deeply, promising that they would remain as steadfast as a fixed star at Geumwonsan.
The Geumwonsan Forest Music Festival is a beautiful experience, filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable memories under the starlit sky.
