Discovering Sudabucks: A Youth Café in Dangjin
Have you heard of "Sudabucks" in Dangjin, Chungnam? Sudabucks is a special hangout exclusively for youth.
The name might remind you of the famous coffee brand "Starbucks," but it is more than just a café.
It serves as a multi-cultural space with facilities for PC gaming, board games, and a library.
Opened in March 2021, the first Sudabucks location spans two floors.
The first floor houses the Dream Start program of Dangjin City, while the second floor is dedicated to Sudabucks.
Sudabucks is available for youth aged 9 to 24 residing in Dangjin, with adults allowed only when accompanied by their children.
Upon entering, I was impressed by the spacious and clean interior. On weekends, many young people visit Sudabucks.
In addition to comfortable bean bags, there are several clean tables that can accommodate many visitors, making it an inviting place for local youth.
The youth café features a large cafeteria area with multiple tables for group use. However, on the Sunday I visited, the cafeteria was not operational.
Sudabucks operates from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on weekends from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The cafeteria operates from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
Youth can enjoy one free drink per day, but no drinks are served on Sundays.
Drinks are available for those up to 24 years old, while guardians do not receive complimentary beverages.
During my visit, I found the air-conditioned space to be a perfect escape from the summer heat.
Sudabucks offers a selection of popular books and various board games, making it an ideal spot for friends to hang out.
The board games include strategy, mystery, and speed games, ensuring there's never a dull moment.
As a parent, I appreciated the active promotion of the youth hotline 1388 and the availability of counseling services.
Sudabucks is operated by the Dangjin Youth Counseling Welfare Center, providing free counseling services, stress assessments, and various programs.
The phrase "It's okay to take a break" felt comforting, knowing that our children can share their academic stress and social concerns here.
The interior features high ceilings and a stylish design, making it a pleasant place to spend time.
One of Sudabucks' highlights is its free PC gaming area. During my visit, I saw boys gathered around enjoying games.
Sudabucks is a great place for families and youth on a budget.
Finally, I took photos of the volunteer activity area and various brochures available.
Sudabucks is more than just a cafeteria; it creates an environment where youth are encouraged to return.
I believe it will continue to be a favorite spot for kids this summer.
