Discovering Jungsanri Valley: A Hidden Gem for Summer Retreats
Jungsanri Valley in Sancheong, located at the foot of Jirisan Mountain in South Gyeongsang Province, is a popular summer getaway known for its free parking and entrance fees, making it an attractive destination for budget-conscious travelers.
Visitors can park their vehicles and reach the pristine waters of the valley within just five minutes on foot, providing an excellent route for families with children or elderly parents.
The valley is situated within the Jirisan National Park, preserving its unspoiled natural beauty. Without any cost, guests can relax in vast natural surroundings, making it a great alternative to artificial water parks in urban areas.
However, due to its popularity, especially during peak weekends in the summer, the parking area and access roads can become crowded. To avoid fatigue and secure a comfortable spot, it is advisable to arrive early in the morning.
The water here, sourced from the convergence of Beopcheon Valley and Yongchu Valley, reaches depths of up to 4 meters, creating stunning scenery. Swimming is only allowed in a designated area of about 150 meters during the summer months of July and August for safety reasons. Visitors must wear life jackets provided on-site and are not allowed to enter outside the designated zones.
In addition to the water activities, taking a leisurely walk along the Jungsan-Duryu Ecological Trail is a fantastic way to experience both nature and history. This area was once home to farming communities and holds traces of historical events, allowing visitors to engage with both ecology and history.
As cooking is strictly prohibited, the valley's waters remain exceptionally clean. Visitors are encouraged to bring packaged drinks or snacks and to carry out any trash they generate as a sign of responsible etiquette.
