A Serene Walk in the Bamboo Forest of Myeoncheon

Inside the Myeoncheon Fortress in Dangjin, there is a charming bamboo forest path perfect for a leisurely stroll.
I visited this place in May, during a light spring rain.
To reach the bamboo path, I parked my car next to Gunja Pavilion and walked a little further.
Gunja Pavilion is a small pond created during the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo, located next to the fortress.
Historical records say that a circular island was built in the middle of the pond with an octagonal pavilion, filled with lotus flowers and fish.
As I walked along the path, I spotted a wooden sign.
The green trees and plants on both sides glistened with dew, appearing fresh and vibrant.
The tender shades of light green and green, soaked in moisture, refreshed my eyes and made walking a joy.
Upon entering the entrance, I noticed a photo zone on one side.
If you have a companion, sitting here and taking a photo together would create lovely memories.
The red wooden box containing a stamp and the yellow entrance door contrast beautifully with the turquoise of the bamboo, making the entrance feel even more refreshing.
I paused for a moment to take a picture.
Opening the yellow door with a red frame, I stepped into the true bamboo path.
As a light drizzle fell, I held an umbrella, which added a charming touch to the scene.
The bamboo forest is adorned with poetic phrases, such as 'This place is nice. And so are you' and 'A piece of memory in Myeoncheon.'
Reciting these words feels like an invitation from a kindred spirit to create memories here.
As I ventured deeper into the forest, the bamboo absorbed the light, creating a soothing and calm atmosphere.
The coolness enveloped me, bringing a refreshing sensation.
The crispness of the bamboo forest cleansed my eyes.
The bamboo leaves on the ground felt soft underfoot, adding to the serene experience.
Sitting on a wooden bench in the middle of the bamboo grove, I looked up at the sky.
The fresh light green leaves glistened in the sunlight.
Breathing in the phytoncides released by the bamboo felt like a cleansing experience for both body and mind.
When the wind blew, the rustling sounds surrounded me, creating a soothing atmosphere.
As I descended, I reflected on the happy moments I had experienced.
Walking amidst the dense bamboo on both sides felt invigorating.
At the end of the bamboo grove, a thicket of trees awaited.
The newly sprouted leaves at the tips of the branches showcased the true beauty of spring.
May is indeed a time when greenery is at its most beautiful.
The path I descended connects to a road.
If you go back this way, it leads back to where I started.
Crossing the road, I found a coffee shop called 'Myeoncheon Warehouse.'
I stopped by to rest and enjoy a drink.
Myeoncheon Warehouse is a café transformed from an old agricultural cooperative warehouse.
Inside, the spacious area with high ceilings feels refreshing.
A large tree in the center adds a cozy touch to the interior.
The tables are spaced far apart, ensuring privacy and comfort.
The chairs are so soft that you could easily drift off to sleep.
I enjoyed a drink with my companions.
The bamboo forest path in Myeoncheon is perfect for a light walk in all four seasons.
Each season offers a different experience, with winter landscapes being particularly stunning.
Though it's not very large, the walk ends quickly, leaving you wanting more.
If you have time, I recommend exploring the alleys within the fortress.
Strolling through the old houses and buildings that blend the past and present is a delightful experience.
There are also several coffee shops nearby and a popular restaurant for bean noodles.
If you manage your time well, you can enjoy both the sights and the tastes in this area.
I hope you find healing in Myeoncheon, where time flows slowly.
