Welcome to Obong Reservoir in Dangjin.

Obong Reservoir is a flat-type reservoir located on the border of Singyeong-myeon (Sang-o-ri) and Songak-eup (Bonggyo-ri) in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do.

It is also known as 'Obongje' among local residents.

Completed in May 1922, it is the oldest and most historic reservoir in the Singyeong area.

Originally built to supply agricultural water and prevent drought, it boasts a uniform structure with an area of approximately 223,000 pyeong and a total storage capacity of about 875,000 cubic meters.

In summer, the vast surface is filled with blooming lotus flowers, showcasing stunning scenery.

It is also a significant winter habitat for migratory birds, including the endangered swan, mallards, and geese, making it a high-value ecological site.

Parking is available in the open area at the entrance of the reservoir.

Thanks to the spacious area, you can enjoy walking comfortably without worrying about parking, whether on weekends or weekdays.

We recommend visiting in light clothing and comfortable shoes.

Managed by the Korea Rural Community Corporation, Obong Reservoir is a valuable agricultural infrastructure that supplies agricultural water, and activities such as swimming, fishing, or using nets are strictly prohibited to protect water quality and prevent accidents.

Due to the deep water, it is advisable to enjoy the walking paths from a distance without approaching the water's edge.

As you walk along the embankment path, you will be greeted by endless clusters of lotus flowers on your left.

The vibrant green lotus leaves blanket the surface of the reservoir, creating a dense and expansive vista.

The lotus flowers, a hallmark of Obong Reservoir, bloom in bright pink and white from July to August, transforming the entire area into a breathtaking sight.

Although the peak bloom has slightly passed, there are still blooming lotus flowers that catch the eye, making me resolve to return next summer when they are in full bloom.

On the right, the vast fields of green rice sway gently in the breeze.

With its different charm from the lotus-filled reservoir, the fresh green fields blend beautifully with the clear blue sky, conveying the tranquility of rural life.

Walking beneath the blue sky, accompanied by fluffy clouds and endless green fields, seems to help organize the chaotic thoughts of daily life.

Beyond the lotus leaves that fill the surface, the charming scenery of a countryside village unfolds.

The dense clusters of lotus flowers and the rooftops clustered behind them create a simple yet picturesque landscape.

Under the softly colored sky at dusk, the atmosphere created by the utility poles and forest feels warm and cozy, reminiscent of a long-lost hometown.

It was a stroll that allowed me to slow down the pace of my busy life and align my steps with the rhythm of nature.

When you need a gentle comfort from the sound of the wind, I recommend taking a quiet, contemplative walk at Obong Reservoir in Dangjin.
