Looking for a place where my family and I could enjoy both 'autumn scenery' and 'natural colors' on the weekend, we headed to the Goseokjeong Flower Garden in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do.
Cheorwon is only about a 2-hour drive from Seoul, making it perfect for a day trip.
As soon as we arrived, the cool breeze that brushed against my nose made me feel autumn in my bones.
Goseokjeong Flower Garden, a must-visit tourist spot in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, changes its theme slightly every year, befitting its status as a representative tourist attraction of Cheorwon.
This time, it was decorated with an 'Autumn Garden' concept, and various attractions and a can train experience awaited us.
Throughout our walk in the flower garden, the fragrant smells and bright colors brought a smile to my face. I could see why it's consistently loved as a family travel destination.
Now, I'll share a detailed review, including pet-friendly safety rules, can train fares, and food recommendations!
Festival Period & Admission Information
Festival Period: August 27th (Wed) ~ November 2nd (Sun)
Admission: Adults 10,000 won / Children 4,000 won
Here's a tip: The Goseokjeong Flower Garden in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, returns half of the admission fee as Cheorwon Love Gift Certificates, so the actual cost is only 5,000 won for adults and 2,000 won for children!
You can use these gift certificates to purchase Cheorwon specialty products at the on-site booths, so I didn't feel like the admission fee was a waste at all.
The entrance has a well-maintained ticket office and parking lot, making it convenient for families to visit.
Pet-Friendly!
Another charm of the Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden is that pets are allowed!
As soon as I entered, I noticed families walking their dogs.
It was so lovely to see the little dogs sniffing the flowers.
Everywhere I looked, I saw people greeting cute dogs they met during their walk, asking, "How's the flower scent?"
That peaceful atmosphere was truly healing.
However, there are a few rules for pet admission:
1️⃣ Leash required (keep within 1.5m)
2️⃣ Weight under 15kg
3️⃣ Bring poop bags
If you follow these three rules, you can enjoy the garden comfortably with your dog.
Free Parasol Rental
Another thoughtful touch at the Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden is the free parasol rental service!
As soon as you enter after showing your ticket, you'll see the rental area.
You can borrow red and yellow colorful parasols.
Walking through the flower garden under the sunlight,
the colors are beautifully reflected, making the photos look great.
The moment you hold a parasol, you feel like you're in a painting.
Many people were taking photos with parasols at the flower garden photo zones.
It's perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy shots.
Can Train Experience
The Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden is much larger than I expected.
So, if you find it difficult to walk around, you can take the can train.
You can board near the local specialty product sales booth, and the fare was 5,000 won per person.
The can train takes you on a course of about 10 minutes.
It's comfortable for adults, but especially popular with children.
As the train runs, the scent of flowers carried by the wind and the colorful waves of flowers unfolding before your eyes are spectacular.
Since each flower type has its own section,
I recommend taking the can train to see the overall layout at a glance and then walking to your favorite section.
You can go directly to the section you want according to your taste,
making the route much easier.
Flower Garden & Viewpoint
The size of the Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden is a whopping 23 soccer fields!
When you first enter, you can't help but exclaim, "Wow..."
The long flower path is filled with seasonal varieties such as celosia, globe amaranth, sunflowers, and buckwheat flowers,
and each area is decorated with a theme,
so the photos turn out great no matter where you stand.
In particular, be sure to go up to the windmill observatory.
The panoramic view of the flower garden from the observatory
unfolds like a single panoramic photo.
The sight of people smiling and walking through the endless waves of flowers
felt like a scene from a movie.
There are also benches near the observatory,
making it a great place to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
Food & Cheorwon Love Gift Certificate Usage Tips
After the tour, there's a place you naturally head to, right?
That's the local specialty product sales booth!
You can use the Cheorwon Love Gift Certificates right here.
They offer a variety of items from food to gifts, including Cheorwon Odae rice Sikhye (sweet rice drink), handmade tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), hotteok (sweet pancakes), apples, yogurt, and vegetables.
I was reminded of the yogurt I eat every morning,
so I bought unsweetened yogurt, and they said I could even have it delivered to my home!
It's so smooth and rich that I'm considering a regular subscription.
My husband likes vegetable meal kits, so I bought that for him,
and when you add it when cooking rice, it completes a fragrant vegetable rice.
A drop of sesame oil, a spoonful of soy sauce, and a fried egg on top
make it a perfect meal.
And something you must try!
I sincerely recommend the 'Odae Rice Sikhye'.
As soon as I took a sip, a savory and clean sweetness spread,
perfectly matching the festive atmosphere.
Final Review
After visiting in person, I understood why everyone calls
the Cheorwon Goseokjeong Flower Garden in Gangwon-do
the 'best healing spot in autumn'.
Wide parking lot, parasol rental, can train, pet-friendly,
and even gift certificate benefits!
It was a place where you could really feel the convenience.
Whether you come with family, as a couple, or with friends,
it's a satisfying travel destination for everyone.
Now is the most beautiful time, so I recommend visiting before the festival ends.
