A Day at the KBS National Singing Contest in Dangjin
Hello everyone! What were you doing on Tuesday, May 19th at 2 PM?
I visited the hottest spot in Dangjin that day, the Myeoncheon Fortress.
There was a recording of the KBS National Singing Contest featuring Dangjin, a program known by everyone in South Korea!
As a social media supporter, I couldn't miss this exciting event!

The usually quiet alleys of Myeoncheon were bustling with people.
I thought to myself, 'Wow, today is really something special!'
As I parked my car and walked towards the venue, I could already hear the sounds of rehearsal from afar.
Everywhere I looked, there were seniors carrying mats and families decked out in sunglasses and hats, all moving in a line, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a grand festival.
When I arrived near the stage, the first thing that caught my eye was the fan club of singer Park Ji-hyun.
The front yard of the south gate of Myeoncheon Fortress was filled with their symbolic color, white.
The fans' preparation was impressive, with banners and light sticks, and there was even merchandise being sold at one entrance.
This event followed preliminary rounds held at the Dangjin City Hall, with 15 teams advancing to the finals.
Notably, participation was limited to pure amateurs, as established artists were not allowed to compete.
The event was organized to celebrate the successful hosting of the 78th Chungcheongnam-do Sports Festival and to revitalize Myeoncheon Fortress, featuring congratulatory performances from invited artists like Park Ji-hyun, Lee So-na, Yoon Tae-hwa, and Ryu Ji-kwang, which further elevated the excitement of the event.
Fans from all over the country arrived early to see Park Ji-hyun, showcasing their orderly yet passionate enthusiasm. I thought, 'Ah, this is the power of K-Trot!'
Thanks to that, I felt confident that our Myeoncheon Fortress would be recognized as a national hot spot.
Who knew there were so many talented people in Dangjin? The real stars were our citizens!
While the performances by the singers were great, it was the 'talented' participants from Dangjin who truly captured my heart.
Wow, I felt immense pride as a Dangjin resident. What happened during the preliminaries? Each performer exuded personality and talent.
Their stage presence was so impressive that it made me question their day jobs.
The audience cheered continuously with remarks like, 'You’re doing great!' and 'Our neighborhood is the best!'
Viewers across the nation will be amazed to see the vibrant spirit of Dangjin showcased on television.
This National Singing Contest was particularly special due to its location.
The backdrop of Myeoncheon Fortress was 'working hard' for the stage.
I felt an overwhelming desire to tell the world, 'Look at this amazing place in Dangjin!'
The scene of people walking and those cheering below the stage was a perfect collaboration of the past and present.
This National Singing Contest not only highlighted the beauty of Myeoncheon Fortress but also showcased how warm and passionate the citizens of Dangjin are.
When the broadcast airs in June, I plan to tune in and relive the excitement of that day.
