Weekend Open Run at Haidilao COEX

Hello!!
I visited the Haidilao COEX branch for an open run this weekend!
It's famous for its long waiting times, right? So this time, I aimed to visit during the weekend open run.
To cut to the chase, if you're planning to visit on a weekend, an open run is almost a must. I went on Sunday morning at 10 AM, and I initially planned to go on Saturday evening, but the waiting time was over 400 minutes, so I gave up.
Now, let me share my experience of the open run at Haidilao COEX and the recipe for the special sauce!
The Haidilao COEX branch is conveniently located between Bongeunsa Station and COEX, making it easily accessible, and the parking lot is spacious in the morning.
• Location: COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
• Operating Hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 AM (Last order at 3:00 AM)
• Parking: 1 hour of free parking available
During the weekends, the number of people waiting increases quickly, so if you visit right at opening time, you can get in immediately.
Upon arriving at the Haidilao COEX branch, I entered the Oakwood Hotel parking lot and went down to the B2 level, where Haidilao is located.
I arrived on time for the opening, and although there were a few customers waiting, there were plenty of tables inside, so I could enter right away!
Ordering right after entering was a bit costly, totaling 110,000 won.
Now that I’ve ordered, it’s time to make the sauce!
Making the special sauce is essential to enjoying Haidilao properly. The sauce combination I made this time paired well with meat, vegetables, and fish balls.
Here’s the recipe for the special sauce:
- 2.5 Chili Sauce
- 1 Doubanjiang (fermented bean paste)
- 1 Peanut Powder
- 1 Chili Oil
- 0.5 Stir-fried Meat
- 0.5 Chili Powder
- 0.5 Chopped Green Onion
- 0.5 Garlic
- 0.3 Sugar
The balance of nuttiness and spiciness is just right!
Now, let’s dig in! I ordered a milk mala and mushroom broth for the hot pot. This combination seems to be the best!
Don't forget to order two shrimp balls!
After making the shrimp balls, I put them in a container so they wouldn't go anywhere.
It’s great that you don’t have to search for ingredients!
Dipping the food in the special sauce makes it so delicious that I could keep eating without feeling heavy.
The hot pot is hearty, but it’s still very tasty!
For a weekend visit, I think the 10 AM open run is the most efficient choice. Next time, I’ll aim for another open run in the morning!
Thank you for reading this long post!
