This is a review based on my own experience. A few days before the October golden holiday, my partner and I wanted a getaway, but it was already too late to plan a Japan trip.
Then we found Hoshikage Ryokan(호시카게료칸 동부산) in Gijang, Busan, a Japanese-style stay that honestly looked so real it felt like we teleported. I booked it immediately because it seemed even better than a rushed flight to Japan.

The exterior gives off such a strong Japanese vibe that I honestly got excited before even stepping inside.
Hoshikage Ryokan Price and What’s Included
For the October golden holiday, Friday and Saturday rates were around 550,000 KRW.
At first, it sounds expensive, but the included features made it feel surprisingly reasonable.
Private Hinoki Bath and In-Room Meals
The room includes a private hinoki bath that you can use unlimited times, and it’s said to be the longest in Korea.
Traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast are also included, along with welcome tea, snacks, and little touches that make the stay feel special.
We stayed in Morino Kage, meaning “the shade in the forest,” which is the most basic two-person room, and there are larger room options for groups of four or more.
Location and Basic Stay Information
Hoshikage Ryokan is located near Dae Byeon Port in Gijang, Busan.
It operates year-round, which makes it an easy option even when you want a spontaneous getaway.
Check-In and Check-Out Timing
Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM.
The timing felt comfortable, with enough time to enjoy the bath, dinner, and the calm atmosphere without rushing.
Room Layout and First Interior Impression
The accommodation is made up of four main spaces: the living room, bedroom, bathroom, and the hinoki bath.
As soon as you step inside, it really feels like entering a cozy Japanese home rather than a typical hotel room.
The overall mood is clean, calm, and thoughtfully styled, which made the holiday feel instantly more relaxed.
Living Room Details That Make the Stay Feel Fun
Right by the entrance, yukatas and sandals are prepared for guests.
They’re separated for men and women, which honestly makes it extra fun for couples who want to lean into the “Japan trip” feeling.
The table is decorated with Japanese-style items, and there’s a coffee machine with a few capsules ready to use.
Bedroom Comfort and a Good Night’s Sleep
Opening the sliding door leads to the bedroom, and the furnishing feels elegant but not stiff.
The bedding was soft and comfortable, so we slept really well without tossing around.
This kind of comfort matters even more during a long holiday when you’re trying to fully recharge.
Bathroom Amenities and Clean, Luxurious Setup
The bathroom was clean and had a luxurious feel without being overdone.
Amenities like razors, toothbrushes, and hair ties were provided, which made the stay feel more thoughtful and complete.
There are separate shower booths and toilets, so everything feels organized and easy to use.
The Private Hinoki Bath That Made It Feel Like Japan
The biggest highlight here is definitely the hinoki bath.
It’s spacious, relaxing, and the cypress scent makes the atmosphere feel instantly calmer.
Soaking with Drinks and a Stocked Fridge
I filled the tub right away and soaked while enjoying drinks, which honestly felt like the holiday moment I wanted.
The fridge was stocked with peach-flavored drinks and beer, and it added to that “Japan without flying” mood.
This was the point where I thought, yes, booking this was the right decision.
Welcome Tea and Snacks That Set the Tone
Not long after we entered, the staff served welcome tea and snacks.
It’s a small service, but it instantly makes you feel welcomed and cared for.
In that moment, it genuinely felt like we were in Japan without even boarding a plane.
Outdoor Garden, Waterfall, and Rickshaw Experience
The outdoor landscaping around the ryokan is beautifully arranged, so there’s plenty to enjoy without leaving the property.
The garden and waterfall add to the Japanese vibe, and it’s a nice spot to stroll and take photos.
The rickshaw experience was surprisingly thrilling and fun, and it made the stay feel more like a real themed getaway.
Traditional Kaiseki Dinner Delivered to the Room
Dinner was a traditional kaiseki-style set with sashimi and grilled beef.
We chose our dinner time during check-in, and the meal was delivered right to our room, which felt luxurious and convenient.
The variety of dishes was impressive, and we enjoyed it slowly with some sake, exactly the way a ryokan dinner should feel.
Japanese Breakfast That Completes the Ryokan Experience
The highlight of staying in a ryokan is waking up to a traditional Japanese breakfast.
Our breakfast included rice, miso soup, and a variety of side dishes that made the table feel abundant.
