A Memorable Stay at the L'Escape Hotel for Our Anniversary
The L'Escape Hotel in Myeongdong is a special place for us. This is our second visit; the first time was when my husband proposed to me, and this time we came to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
It holds significant meaning for us, and while it is a beautiful hotel, it feels even more unique this time around. We hope to return here with our future child.
Thinking back to the day of the proposal three years ago, it brings a smile to my face. It was my husband's birthday and around the time we celebrated our first anniversary. We planned a trip for two nights and three days, spending one day at a hotel in Seoul for his birthday party and another day at a pension in Gyeonggi-do for our anniversary celebration.
While preparing for the party, I had asked my husband to stay in the dressing room while I inflated balloons. However, the masking tape I was using was not very sticky, and the balloons kept falling. I ended up feeling a bit down and just gave him the gift I had prepared.
Despite my failed birthday party plan, my husband surprised me by returning with a bouquet of flowers and a Tiffany ring. He knelt down and asked, 'Will you marry me?' I burst out laughing and hugged him tightly.
It was my first time holding 100 roses, and they were surprisingly heavy! It felt like a scene from a romantic drama, but my husband, who speaks with a Busan accent, clumsily knelt down and asked me to marry him, which made him incredibly endearing.
Now, returning to the L'Escape Hotel for our anniversary, we were greeted by its classic and stunning interior, which still captivates me. The hotel was designed by the French master Jacques Garcia and is a tribute to the 'Belle Époque' era of French art and culture.
The hotel features elegant furniture reminiscent of a French chateau, with beautiful floral art and a bold, symmetrical structure. Upon receiving our room key, I noticed that the hotel keys are quite unique; inserting them into a wall socket turns on the lights.
We stayed in the Atelier Junior Suite King, which is a studio-style room with one king bed and one bathroom. Upon entering, there was a small hallway with a large closet and shelves for luggage storage. Interestingly, the room decor and wallpaper were the same as the room where I was proposed to three years ago, which made us both laugh.
This time, I made sure to take plenty of photos of the beautiful hotel and room, as I regretted not capturing enough during our first visit. The minibar had a capsule coffee machine, and although we don't drink much, we enjoyed the coffee.
The bathroom was beautifully designed, featuring two sinks, which made it convenient for us to brush our teeth together. The shower and toilet were separated, adding to the luxury of the space. I had brought my toothbrush and razor from home, but we purchased a bubble bar for a relaxing bath experience.
To celebrate our anniversary, we played our favorite board game, Splendor, which we had first played during our first trip to Nami Island. It was a fun and addictive game, and I recommend caution to anyone getting into board games!
As we wrapped up our stay in the Atelier Junior Suite King, I reflected on how much the L'Escape Hotel has contributed to our journey as a couple. I usually forget anniversaries, but a delicious meal can always make me happy.
It was a delightful experience to celebrate our second anniversary at this beautiful hotel, creating yet another precious memory together.
