A Fun Trip to Ulsan

I had a hotel voucher for Gangneung, so I asked my friend if he was free.
He said yes, so I was excited and made plans!
However, my friend wanted to eat Mungtigi!
There was a Mungtigi place in Gangneung, but it was quite far.
We didn't have that much time, so we decided to go to Ulsan instead!
Since we are both sashimi lovers, we bought tickets to eat sashimi and Mungtigi in Ulsan!
(I canceled the hotel voucher and booked a new one.)
This isn’t a big deal, but I wanted to plan ahead for myself.
I’m going on the 21st, so I need to purchase the pass starting on the 15th to get a ticket within a week for the 21st.
If I go to Busan on the 21st and return on the 22nd, I need to buy the pass starting on the 16th.
So, if I want to buy the pass starting on the 15th, I can pay for it from the 9th.
In summary:
1. Pass payment date
2. Pass start date
3. Train travel date
Considering point 3, I will decide on points 2 and 1!
Since there may not be available seats, it’s best to purchase the pass and book the train tickets as early as possible.
I didn’t understand this well and ended up paying for the pass a week before the travel date, but there were still many seats available.
(You can get a full refund within a few minutes of purchasing the pass, but after a certain time, there’s a fee. I paid a few thousand won in fees, but considering the round trip was 70,000 won, it was okay.)
On the first day, after planning this trip, I arrived early at Seoul Station!
There was a limited edition item, so I couldn’t resist and went in.
I bought one Hongsi and a trendy Dubai rice cake.
However, my friend’s Dubai strawberry rice cake was brown on the outside, while mine was white, which confused me!
Of course, the Dubai strawberry rice cake and the regular Dubai rice cake were different.
I thought there was only one version of the Dubai rice cake, but there were two versions: with and without strawberry.
There were so many pigeons at Seoul Station, and I was a bit sad, but I enjoyed my meal.
After taking the KTX and arriving at Ulsan Station, I checked into my accommodation and headed to a famous soup curry place.
I took a photo with my digital camera.
My friend wanted curry, but I wanted Tsukemen, which unfortunately was sold out.
So, I just had the soup curry and ordered fried eggplant as a side. It was delicious but a bit oily. I recommend the spicy version!
Fried eggplant is usually tasty, so it was good.
In Ulsan, I visited several egg tart shops, including Enang, The Beg x2, and Obo Donata x2, totaling five visits.
Both The Beg and Obo Donata were incredibly delicious!
The Beg's egg tart is 3,800₩ and is a classic Hong Kong-style tart with a crispy outer layer and a delicious filling.
However, the flavor diminishes over time, so it’s best enjoyed warm!
At Obo Donata, the egg tart is 3,000₩ and is Portuguese-style, which I love.
It has a flaky crust with a hint of salty flavor, and the filling is also tasty.
Even when cooled, it’s still good, but I recommend eating it warm.
After the egg tart tour, we went to the Jangsaengpo Whale Museum.
If you don’t have a car and can’t afford taxi fare, I suggest you skip this place.
However, I had a memorable experience making a whale sculpture!
The museum’s entrance fee was very cheap, but there wasn’t much to see.
Afterward, we visited the central market, where my friend praised the Jjondigi, but it wasn’t to my taste.
Then came the highlight—sashimi!
We found about ten sashimi restaurants, but due to rough seas, we couldn’t get conch.
We enjoyed squid and bigeye tuna, which were delicious but not very sweet.
I enjoyed the sashimi anyway.
After eating, we watched a show until 2 AM.
It was fun, so I recommend it!
On the second day, we went to a Milmyeon specialty restaurant recommended by a friend.
I love Milmyeon, and since I heard Ulsan’s is good, we went.
It was delicious, and the noodles were great!
We also visited a café, but I can’t remember where.
I had a scone and a latte that was fun to drink.
Then, my friend suggested we walk to the Mungtigi place, which took longer than expected.
Despite the long walk, the scenery along the Taehwa River was beautiful.
Finally, we enjoyed delicious Yukhoe and Mungtigi!
I don’t usually like sour things, but I regretted not trying lemon beer.
We also had flat dumplings and Muk-sabal, and I felt like I could eat five plates of it!
After eating, we returned to Seoul and enjoyed our time.
This was a wonderful trip to Ulsan!
