A Chocolate Lover's Paradise in Yeonnam-dong

I heard there's a dessert cafe specializing in handmade chocolates in Yeonnam-dong, so as a chocolate lover, I had to check it out!
(Spoiler: It's a must-visit for chocolate desserts!)
Location: 19 Yeonhui-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st Floor
5-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 3
Operating Hours: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Parking: Not available (pickup only)
Pet-friendly!
As I walked from Hongdae Station, braving the cold wind and resisting the temptations of other cafes, I finally arrived at Chagok Patisserie.
I had a good feeling about the amazing chocolates waiting inside.
Upon entering, I was immediately drawn to the desserts in the showcase. The staff was busy packaging handmade chocolates while the pastry chefs were hard at work in the back.
Even though the hype around the popular 'Duchonku' has cooled down a bit, I could tell they were busier than ever with Valentine's Day approaching.
True to its reputation as a hot spot in Yeonnam-dong, the cafe was packed at 3:30 PM on a Saturday, and I had to wait about 15 minutes.
There wasn't a formal waiting system; you just have to wait your turn.
The restroom was very clean, which was a pleasant surprise!
Honestly, the atmosphere wasn't as impressive as other cafes in Yeonnam-dong, but that didn't matter since the desserts here are top-notch.
The lineup of desserts included their signature dark cake, matcha chocolate cake, cheesecake, Jeju carrot cake, tiramisu, and lamington cake.
They also had whole cakes like strawberry chiffon, macadamia mocha chiffon, and Earl Grey chocolate chiffon.
For cookies, they offered sablé and pébble, which is essentially delicious Pepero. They looked beautiful and came in various types!
As for the handmade chocolates, they had bonbons and duchonku, perfect gifts for Valentine's Day.
Every dessert looked tempting, making it hard to choose.
When you light a candle on a Chagok Patisserie cake, you create wonderful memories.
Ordering and payment can be done at the kiosk next to the counter, but make sure to grab a vibrating bell first!
As soon as the bell rang, I rushed to get my tray.
Hot Americano (light) - 4,500 KRW
Iced Decaf Americano - 5,500 KRW
To be honest, the coffee was not great. Decaf beans usually taste bland, but this one had a musty odor.
Dark Cake - 8,500 KRW
This gluten-free chocolate cake is made solely with Valrhona chocolate and powder. It had three layers of Valrhona chocolate sponge and cream, topped with three square chocolate pieces.
It was neither too light nor too heavy, and I could feel the luxurious taste and aroma of Valrhona chocolate without any greasiness.
Chocolate Sablé - 3,000 KRW
Two chocolate sablés shaped like Pepero were perfect for sharing.
The buttery cookie crumbled lightly, and the chocolate coating complemented it perfectly.
After enjoying my first round, I decided to order more.
Milk Chocolate Pebble - 2,500 KRW
I ordered the sablé in chocolate and the pebble in milk chocolate. The cookie crumble on top made it even sweeter!
Fig Financier - 2,000 KRW
This financier was incredibly light and moist, with a delightful buttery aroma.
If you're looking for delicious handmade chocolate desserts near Hongdae Station, be sure to visit Chagok Patisserie!
Happy Valentine's Day! If you choose Chagok for your special day, you won't regret it.
