Naju, a city famous for natural dyeing in Korea.
Naju, a center of ancient Korean culture, has been a city where cotton fabrics, silk, and natural dyeing culture have developed since ancient times.
Naju, formed in the plains of the Yeongsang River, has developed textiles and natural dyeing culture along with the formation of the city since ancient times due to its abundant water, fertile soil, and warm climate.
That tradition is still being inherited and developed today.
Naju is the only city in Korea where the traditional Korean indigo dyeing technology and culture are being passed down and developed, centered around two holders of the dyeing master skill, National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 115.
