A Visit to Jamsil Christmas Market

This visit to the Jamsil Christmas Market felt like a gentle winter outing filled with warm food, laughter, and small seasonal moments shared with a close friend.
Starting the day with a buffet lunch at Ashley and ending it among heart-shaped lights, snow performances, and a slow carousel ride made the experience feel cozy and memorable.
Even without many food photos, the combination of winter atmosphere, friendship, and festive scenery made this January outing especially meaningful.
A January Outing to Jamsil with a University Friend
Hello.
On January 2nd, I visited the Jamsil Christmas Market with my university friend.
It was cold, but we were excited to spend the day together and enjoy the lingering holiday atmosphere.
Lunch at Ashley Before Heading to Christmas Town
Before heading to Christmas Town, we spent quite some time debating what to eat for lunch.
In the end, we chose Ashley, where we could enjoy both a full meal and desserts in one place.
I wanted to take photos of the food, but I completely forgot.
Since it was my first blog post of the year, I focused more on eating than documenting.
Why Ashley Works Well for a Weekday Lunch
Visiting Ashley during weekday lunch hours feels surprisingly cost-effective.
You can enjoy a variety of food and drinks for a price similar to a regular restaurant or café.
The only thing to keep in mind is the two-hour time limit.
What I Ate at the Buffet
Whenever I visit a buffet for the first time, I start with salad and soup to warm up.
After that, I go back for the dishes I really want.
I’m not a big seafood fan, so I stuck to salmon sushi, aglio e olio, rosé pasta, gorgonzola pizza, chicken, and tacos.
I especially love tteokbokki.
This time, I mixed the spicy and cream versions to make my own rosé tteokbokki.
Dessert Time Is Always Serious
For dessert, I had matcha and vanilla ice cream.
I dipped them into the chocolate fondue, which hardened slightly and paired beautifully with the ice cream.
The matcha wasn’t overly sweet and had just the right bitterness.
To finish, I made waffles topped with honey sauce and Nutella.
Heading to Jamsil Christmas Town in the Cold
After finishing our meal, we finally headed to Jamsil Christmas Town.
It was so cold that my hands were trembling.
I kept my hands tucked into my friend’s pocket as we walked.
First Impressions Inside the Christmas Market
When we arrived, the staff kindly explained how to buy tickets.
As soon as we entered, a huge heart-shaped tree welcomed us.
The large heart decorations were unique and completely my style.
There were many food stalls and small shops, but I didn’t take many photos this time.
A Quiet Break and Letter Exchange
While exploring, we took a break in an indoor area filled with food stalls.
My friend had brought a notepad, and we decided to exchange handwritten letters.
Writing and sharing letters while sitting together felt surprisingly special.
Snow Performance and a Touch of Childlike Wonder
At 3 PM, there was a snow performance at the giant heart tree.
As the large heart approached, white snowflakes began falling.
It looked beautiful, even to adult eyes.
The children around us were especially excited.
Later, we realized the snowflakes were actually soap bubbles.
Ending the Day with a Slow Carousel Ride
To wrap up our visit, we rode the carousel together.
It moved very slowly and was much calmer than the one at Lotte World.
Still, trying something new together was fun in its own way.
A Cozy Winter Memory to Start the Year
Even without many photos, this day felt full.
Between good food, warm conversations, and festive scenery, it was a lovely way to begin the year.
Thank you for reading until the end.
See you next time.
