2026 Paju Children's Book Festival

Welcome to the 2026 Paju Children's Book Festival!
The theme for this year's festival is 'Books, Come Out! Snacks, Come Out!'
This is not a spell cast by a goblin, but the theme for the festival held throughout Paju Book City.
Since its inception in 2003 with 'Let's Play with Nature', the Paju Children's Book Festival has aimed to create a city that resembles children.
Every year, writers who share this vision gather to host a 'living book playground'.
This event, which provides children with a multi-dimensional reading experience through play and hands-on activities, has already reached its 24th edition.
Let us introduce this magnificent book festival!
Join us as we follow the media art installed in the event hall corridor and visit an imaginary snack factory.
Doesn't it smell like sweet chocolate chip cookies baking?
In the imagination workshop, children can create their unique goods.
With over 40 children's publishers participating, the book market has created a rich festival atmosphere.
From early hours, children and families are bustling around.
Each publisher's booth is hosting book sales and unique events.
Experience the joy of reading through seeing, touching, tasting, and smelling.
Just like a snack that spreads sweetness in your mouth, books stimulate children's infinite imagination and awaken their senses.
There were also opportunities to meet beloved picture book authors and attend signing events.
Activities that spark curiosity were abundant, including exploring the mysteries of the universe through books, creating handkerchiefs with beautiful illustrations and texts, and various fun workshops.
With the support of manufacturers, we held a shrimp cracker drawing contest, and every participating child received a shrimp cracker as a gift.
The festival also featured a corner where picture book researchers, publishers, and elementary school teachers collaborated to explore how picture books are made.
We hope to see many authors who will paint a bright and clear children's world.
The event also included a flea market selling handmade goods and festival memorabilia.
The exhibition of the 'Bokdakgatdak' by the artist, which illustrated old stories beautifully, was impressive.
During the event, we had engaging workshops that stimulated children's imaginations.
Thanks to many efforts to creatively broaden children's perspectives, this event has taken a significant step towards making Paju a reading nation.
We can see Pinocchio peeking out, enjoying the book festival.
Just like the warm story of mischievous Pinocchio and Grandpa Geppetto, we look forward to future authors who will create touching tales with rich imagination.
