Valentine's Day Adventures

Happy Valentine's Day! I spent the day with Suhee, starting with an escape room at Konkuk University. We completed two rooms, though the themes weren't particularly memorable, it was a pleasant experience!
Then we visited a gacha shop and found a capsule machine selling sake cups! However, I think the Maruko sake cup I bought in Hongdae is the prettiest. I noticed they had them at Animate in Jamsil too, but I already purchased mine - being an early adopter! I'm so satisfied! Every time I drink at home, it feels like a celebration!
They offered to take a photo if we bought something, so Suhee and I took a picture - gacha! Get cha!
We then visited a cafe I had my eye on, and the owner gave off a 'geek' vibe. They had lots of rare teddy bear and merchandise. Additionally, there was a movie poster for 'Call Me by Your Name' which made us laugh.
Since we planned to have a big dinner later, we opted for individual pancakes instead of a platter. Next time, I want to try them with fruit and various creams! While chatting, I shared that a new fluffy Japanese pancake had come out, and now we don't have to go to Gangnam or Japan just to try soufflé pancakes!
We were moving towards Garak-dong and passed by a koi shop! Every time I see the word 'koi' (not love, but the fish), I start singing the Ranma 1/2 theme song. It's great to have a friend who grew up in the same era! This shop mainly features Shin-chan and Hello Kitty, so it wasn't quite my style. If they had Kerokerokeropi goods, I would have grabbed them all! I bought a card for a middle school member I agreed to meet at Seiko Con, as she loves Matsuda Seiko.
We also did our usual schedule of taking life-sized photos - they turned out so cute lately!
Next, we headed to Mungatpo! Today, we decided on a dry rice sake made in Hiroshima. I was worried there would be many couples since it was Valentine's Day, but aside from us, everyone else was married! We even saw a baby, a rare sight at Mungatpo. The baby was 7 months old and didn't show any shyness, so we took turns holding her. Suhee, who has a daughter, seemed nostalgic as she kept holding the baby.
I usually don't eat raw shrimp, so the chef cooked something special just for me, topped with my favorite salmon roe. The chef is considering taking over this place instead of opening elsewhere. I'm fine with any location! We will follow along! Mungatpo is the best!
It was almost time for the musical, so I couldn't enjoy dessert properly, but I ate the chocolates the chef saved for me while taking a taxi. Surprisingly, there wasn't much traffic! As for merchandise, I think all goods should be bought in Japan. I had no words. There were also more Japanese and Westerners than I expected, but not many children. I wonder if Japanese people prefer to see things in Korea via package tours rather than moving within Japan? From reviews, it seems many people come from far away like Jeju Island or Busan to see shows here.
The lights were so bright that when I took photos with my iPhone, there was a lot of glare. I have an iPhone 17, so why is that? We took a commemorative photo and settled into our seats early. We arrived at the Nambu Terminal, but I couldn't even spin a gacha there!
But seriously, did they express anime this well? It's impressive! The power of human creativity is truly remarkable. The sound was fantastic; usually, the orchestra is under the OP seats, but they were hidden behind the stage. It was incredible! I haven't felt this thrilled since watching the original Lion King musical. It was so good! During the ticketing, I chose the actress I wanted to see, Monet, which greatly increased my satisfaction. I adore her! If I had seen the anime three times before, I might not have needed subtitles, but I still had to check them occasionally and missed some parts, which was a bit disappointing. The first act flew by with shocking moments, while the second act was more serene.
My seat offered a great overall view! But I wish I could see it up close again. The expressions of the actors are so important in musicals. I might consider buying tickets in the 7th row or closer. Suhee also expressed a strong desire to see it again. But do many people think like this? I noticed there were tickets available, but they were sold out, and I wish I had seen it earlier in January (when Yubaba was still the original voice actor). I should have gone for a second viewing... but tickets are 200,000 won each, so I need to be realistic.
At Nambu Terminal, I have a bit of a history since I worked near there for five years, so I dropped Suhee off at her bus to Incheon. Unfortunately, all the cafes and shops I wanted to visit were closed, so I guess I'll have to plan for next time.
