Sweet Moments at Deodaldal, the Dessert Café Locals Love

This visit to Cafe Deodaldal in Gangnam was an unplanned stop made while searching for a place to sit on a crowded winter weekend.
Known for handmade chocolates, bingsu, and desserts, the cafe stood out for its spacious seating and relaxed atmosphere compared to nearby popular spots.
While expectations were low at first, the experience turned into a calm break with desserts that focused on balance rather than overwhelming sweetness.
A Chance Discovery Near Gangnam Station
Hello, this is Chublie.
Last weekend, despite the biting cold, Gangnam was packed with people, as expected.
I moved from one cafe to another looking for an empty seat and eventually walked into a place without any prior plan.
That unexpected stop turned out to be Cafe Deodaldal.
Basic Information and Accessibility
The cafe is located at 38-6, Gangnam-daero 102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
It takes about nine minutes on foot from Gangnam Station Exit 11 and six minutes from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6.
Operating hours run from 10:30 AM to 12:00 AM, making it a flexible option even in the evening.

First Impressions of the Exterior
The cafe sits along a street lined with other cafes, but its exterior felt slightly antique and distinct.
There is a deck with outdoor tables at the entrance, though the cold weather made indoor seating the obvious choice.
On that windy day, even the flower pots outside hinted that it wasn’t a day for terrace seating.
Menu Overview and Dessert Focus
Upon entering, the staff handed over the menu and asked us to order at the counter after deciding.
As expected for Gangnam, drink prices weren’t cheap, but that’s fairly standard in this area.
The real highlight here is dessert, especially their chocolate-based items and bingsu.
Dessert Prices That Felt Reasonable
Signature items include chocolate bingsu, strawberry bingsu, waffles, pancakes, and handmade cakes.
Considering that everything is handmade, the pricing felt acceptable.
Compared to individual cakes elsewhere costing up to 10,000 won, these desserts felt relatively fair.

Interior Atmosphere and Seating
Inside, the first thing that caught my eye was a large Christmas wreath, followed by a tall tree still standing even after the holidays.
I entered around 2:30 PM on a Saturday, and there were plenty of empty seats at first.
By around 3:30 PM, the cafe quickly filled up, showing its steady popularity.
A Spacious Layout Rare in Gangnam
The folding doors inside create an open and airy feeling.
There are many tables beyond those doors, which is rare for Gangnam cafes where waiting is usually unavoidable.
Thanks to the ample seating, I didn’t feel rushed or pressured to leave.

What We Ordered and Taste Impressions
We ordered a chocolate cake, two iced Americanos, and an orange ade.
The orange ade stood out with real orange pieces and strong carbonation, making it very refreshing.
The iced Americano tasted quite standard, exactly what you would expect.
Chocolate Cake Review
Since this cafe specializes in handmade chocolate, I had high expectations for the dessert.
At first bite, it felt average, but as I kept eating, I appreciated that it wasn’t overly sweet.
The almond and granola toppings added a pleasant nuttiness, and the cake itself had a dense, brownie-like texture.

Bingsu Popularity Even in Winter
Looking around, I noticed that many tables were enjoying bingsu despite the cold weather.
Chocolate bingsu and strawberry bingsu seemed especially popular.
Seeing the chocolate bingsu reminded me of the old chocolate bingsu trends from years ago.
Final Thoughts on Cafe Deodaldal
This visit started as a random stop while searching for a famous cafe that was already full.
Without any expectations, I discovered a cafe known for handmade chocolates and even monthly macaron classes.
While I may not actively plan a return visit, it’s a solid option if you want a spacious cafe in Gangnam without waiting on a cold day.
