Reflections on the New Year
Yay, the year 2026 has begun! Wishing everyone a prosperous New Year!
As January arrived, I realized that 'people don't change easily.'
I tried to change some parts of myself, but it wasn't easy, so I've decided to stop forcing it. This realist intends to go with the flow.
And there's nothing wrong with what adults say: I made my own decisions, and I must accept the consequences. Mindset control completed in one day. So, let’s go!
One day in November, I was told that I would receive results from my second interview the following week, but after three weeks with no news, I figured I was rejected and started interviewing again.
But surprise! I got a call right after and was accepted. Thankfully, I have time to prepare for my start in January 2026.
However, I also realized that adults are right again: a three-month contract... If I had known earlier, I could have warmed up my brain nicely before starting in 2026.
I don’t know what to do with my stubbornness. This is just who I am.
In the latter half of 2025, the youth interview subsidy was a ray of hope in my life.
After a couple of interviews, I thought I should share my experiences.
I wasn't a fresh graduate; I was focused on surviving until my next job with my severance pay, so I didn't take any part-time jobs. I often checked online for benefits available to youth.
Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy my time before January's salary.

I felt a connection with the advice and decided to put it into practice in 2026.
Anyway, a month and a half into my first job feels like a year and a half already.
Indeed, it's true that if you don't do something for a while, you lose your touch.
If I change jobs again, I wanted to work in a designated position.
But I thought I could park anywhere if I wanted to.
So nowadays, I park haphazardly ten minutes away and walk to work.
People might think I'm in Seoul, where parking fees are so high!
Still, the cafes and transportation infrastructure around here are so great that I realized you can't have it all.
When you gain one thing, you often lose another.
So I pack a simple lunch and buy what I want sometimes, and while checking for snacks in convenience stores, I found the cake. What a surprise!

This year, I finally plan to attend the coffee expo and the international bakery fair, which I've always wanted to go to, and I've already booked tickets.
I want to explore Seongsu, which I haven't visited in ages.
I'm also curious about the books I've been meaning to write in my routine once a week to clear my mind.
As my birthday in May approaches, I plan to unbox two books I bought.
Now that I've adapted to my job, I might consider solo travel starting in March.
The first destination for my solo trip in 2026 is Gunsan! I'm curious about the West Sea Gold Train, and even though ticketing failed, I'm just taking a regular seat.
Next, I really want to visit Gyeongju and Yeosu.
With winter passing and spring arriving, I plan to enjoy my favorite seasons.
However, I think I need to reduce stress at work to enjoy all this freedom.
I work hard during the week and play hard on weekends.
This time, I changed jobs to a new role, so I'm lacking in the basics.
I've discovered the Tomorrow Learning Card, which allows me to learn baking and barista skills at a low cost.
I'm looking for ways to work smarter, with many options available online and in-person. I recommend thoroughly researching and choosing wisely. Both job seekers and those employed can apply, so don’t forget!
