Exploring the Vibrant Namdaemun Market

The flower market on the third floor of Daedo General Shopping Center is a must-visit when you come to Namdaemun Market.
As soon as you step inside, the fragrance of fresh flowers fills the air.
Looking at the map, I realize that Daedo Shopping Center is at the heart of Namdaemun Market.
Despite the rise of online shopping, the Daedo Shopping Center was bustling with customers even on a weekday, filling the imported goods stores in the basement.
Namdaemun Market is truly resilient!
As expected for the Christmas season, the place is filled with tree-related items. Even though I am a middle-aged person who feels the romance of Christmas fading, the charm of December in Namdaemun Market still lingers.
Although I didn’t ask for prices since I already have a tree at home, just window shopping here makes for a delightful date.
To my surprise, the variety of tree sizes and shapes was greater than I expected, and the trees adorned only with lights were stunning.
Next, I wandered through the flower section.
Indeed, the flowers were fresh, but there were so many options that I found myself uncertain about what to buy, even though I wanted to purchase a bouquet.
Perhaps due to the Christmas season, there seemed to be many customers looking for materials for wreaths and other decorative objects.
I also spotted a familiar face who always handles orchids.
In the end, I bought a medium-sized poinsettia for 5,000 won. It was definitely fresh, and I enjoyed learning about the different varieties of poinsettias that have emerged over the years.
In my younger days, I didn’t have much money, but I remember buying various materials at Namdaemun and sitting in a nearby café making Christmas crafts.
Will I ever experience that kind of romance again?
