Exploring Saengigi Jeong on Jeju Island

Saengigi Jeong is located at the westernmost point of Han-gyeong-myeon on Jeju Island. The nearest village is Yongsu-ri, which overlooks the islands of Chagwi-do and Wa-do. Although it was once a lesser-known area, the Jeju Olle Trail Route 12 passing through here has made it famous through word of mouth among hikers.
This area, situated along the west coast of Jeju, features a unique landscape where the volcanic hill Dangsanbong meets the sea, resulting in well-developed coastal cliffs and sea caves. In front of it lie the volcanic islands of Wa-do and Chagwi-do, creating a complex topography that stands out in the otherwise simple coastal landscape of Jeju. It goes without saying that such a landscape offers breathtaking views.
Anyone walking the entire Route 12 will naturally pass through here, but for those who wish to catch a glimpse of Saengigi Jeong, it's best to approach from the Yongsu-ri port area.

There is an access road about 300 meters straight from Yongsu-ri port, marked by the Olle Trail ribbons. Two cafes are located nearby, making them a convenient starting point for parking before exploring the area.
While it is not entirely accessible, there are no steep inclines or declines, making it manageable for anyone who can walk. The path is well-paved with stone slabs over grass, ensuring a comfortable walking experience.
The coastal cliffs, sea caves, and the stunning blue sea alongside the islands of Chagwi-do and Wa-do create a truly beautiful scene.
Walking slowly along the narrow path beside the blue sea, feeling the refreshing breeze and wiping away the sweat, is a unique experience known only to those who have walked this route.
