To celebrate our 900 days together and my birthday, my boyfriend and I visited Confiere.

We're not exactly food connoisseurs; we value quantity over quality and love meat, so we don't often go to fine dining or course meals.

However, after watching a cooking show featuring black and white chefs, my boyfriend seemed to open his eyes to the world of gourmet cuisine.

We searched for a good place to experience fine dining for the first time and found a spot that was reasonably priced and had a decent atmosphere, so we made a reservation.

Upon entering the Grand Central building and taking the escalator down, we found the entrance to the restaurant. At first, we thought it might be closed, but opening the oddly shaped door revealed a whole new world.

We reserved a two-person bar table, but round tables are also available. Sitting at the bar table allows you to watch the cooking process, which adds to the fun.

We booked the lunch course, priced at 65,000 won per person, which is quite reasonable for fine dining.

Each table is equipped with a tablet, allowing us to view course explanations while enjoying our meal.

The basic course we booked was Course B at 65,000 won. If we switched the main dish to beef, it would become Course A, but we wanted to try both, so we changed one to Course A for an additional 20,000 won.

Our meal began with an amuse-bouche featuring sea bream with thinly sliced paprika and a refreshing sauce, which was a delightful start.

Next was Appetizer 1, a warm and sweet pumpkin soup topped with a bitter beet flower.

Appetizer 2 was a dish made with squid shaped like spaghetti, which surprisingly had a spicy seafood flavor, likely due to the strong taste of jamón.

Then came the Meal course, which I found to be the most delicious dish. It had a risotto-like feel with unique rice texture, perfectly complemented by the flavor of red shrimp and onsen egg.

We also added sea urchin for 15,000 won, but I didn't notice much difference, so it might not be necessary.

Next was a palate cleanser, a small cup containing a jelly-like ice ball that was unexpectedly refreshing with herbal and rosemary scents.

Before the main dish, we had a semi-main dish featuring sous-vide chicken breast, which was decent but not extraordinary.

The main dish for Course A featured beef, and the standout was the burdock, which paired perfectly with the meat.

Course B's main dish featured pork, which was chewy and complemented by a sweet onion sauce. However, the butter-cooked radish didn't quite match with the pork.

Finally, dessert consisted of ice cream shaped like a traditional Korean roof tile and chestnut ganache. The ice cream had a citrus flavor, and when combined with the sweet ganache, it created a delightful balance.

The entire course took about 1.5 to 2 hours, and even though we usually eat quickly, we decided to take our time this time.

While the main dishes weren't as extravagant as expected, I think it's a good spot for fine dining beginners to try for special occasions.
