Ulsan International Art Fair 2026: A Celebration of Creativity

The largest art festival in Ulsan, the '2026 Ulsan International Art Fair (UiAF 2026)', was held from June 18 to June 21 at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center (UECO), starting with a VIP preview.
This year marks the 6th edition of the Ulsan International Art Fair, which continues to grow in scale and quality every year.
The 2026 fair was an opportunity to discover personal tastes and the true values of life.
With participation from 75 galleries from both domestic and international locations, the fair featured 108 booths and 16 special exhibitions, showcasing over 4,000 works of art including paintings, sculptures, installation art, crafts, and media art.
Thanks to the involvement of a global art network from nine countries including France, the USA, and Japan, visitors could experience global art trends without traveling far from Ulsan.
This aspect is perhaps the most appealing feature of this art fair.
While the 2026 Ulsan International Art Fair was filled with numerous attractions, I would like to highlight three particularly impressive points.
1. OASIS OF CRAFT: Craft Week Experience Program
The 'Villa Oasis' team organized various experience programs for different age groups both inside and outside the exhibition hall.
Participants had the chance to engage directly with artists through activities like the 'Beeswax Wrap Class' using natural materials led by artist Mirada, and the 'Breeze Beats Silk Screen Class' where attendees could print designs on T-shirts.
These programs allowed visitors to experience crafts more intimately.
2. Artist Talks
This was a platform for artists and visitors to engage in artistic dialogue. Recommended artists from participating galleries shared insights into their creative worlds.
The narratives behind the artworks came to life through the artists' words, resonating deeply with the audience.
3. Docent Program
This program allowed visitors to delve deeper into the artworks with the guidance of professional interpreters.
They provided rich insights into the background of the pieces, the artists' intentions, and artistic techniques, making familiar artworks feel new and unfamiliar ones feel closer.
Overall, my experience at the 2026 Ulsan International Art Fair highlighted how the cultural thirst of Ulsan is being quenched through this event.
While Ulsan is a leading industrial city in South Korea, it has historically had a relatively thin art market and collector base compared to nearby large cities like Seoul and Busan.
However, throughout the exhibition, I encountered many general citizen collectors who were seriously engaging with the artworks, discussing their value with gallery representatives, and purchasing pieces for interior decoration and personal collections.
As the 2026 Ulsan International Art Fair dazzled at UECO for four days, which artworks left a lasting impression on you?
The comfort and transformation that art brings can enrich our lives more than we realize.
If you missed out this year, be sure to visit the Ulsan International Art Fair next year, which will return even better.
