Spring Outing Course in Gyeongju: Hwanglidangil, Daereungwon, and Cheomseongdae

Hello! I am Lee Seung-min from the Gyeongsangbuk-do SNS Reporter Group.
May is a month of family, which means many holidays and great weather for outings with family.
In this article, I will introduce the areas of Daereungwon and Hwanglidangil that I visited in May!
First, I arrived in Gyeongju and parked at the Hwanglidangil Public Parking Lot!
Currently, it is free to use, making it convenient. However, it is expected to switch to a paid system in the second half of 2026, so keep that in mind.
Next, I went to Hwanglidangil for lunch. There are so many delicious restaurants that choosing a menu was quite fun!
After the meal, I tried the famous '10 Won Bread', a must-have snack in Gyeongju. It's easily found all over Hwanglidangil, making it perfect for enjoying as a dessert while strolling.
After filling up, I enjoyed a cup of coffee at Hwanglidangil before entering Daereungwon.
Inside Daereungwon is Cheonmachong, which requires an admission fee, while Daereungwon itself is free to enter.
This was my first time visiting Daereungwon. It was a lovely place for a light stroll after a meal.
Walking slowly with family, friends, or a partner, you can enjoy the atmosphere and nature of Gyeongju.
It’s a great spot to spend leisurely time, especially in the beautiful May weather.
Please note that pets and some items mentioned in the photo are restricted, so keep that in mind when visiting.
After exploring Daereungwon, I moved towards Cheomseongdae and the Gyeongju Historic Site area.
Being very close to Daereungwon, it was easy to transition to the next course after a nice walk.
The Gyeongju Historic Site area is larger than I expected, which might make walking a bit strenuous.
There is a ticket booth for the 'Bidanbeolle Electric Car' at the entrance, which could be useful for families with children or those who prefer a more comfortable visit.
The area around Cheomseongdae and the Gyeongju Historic Site offers a unique serene atmosphere.
With its wide lawns and ruins, it’s a great place to take a slow walk.
I recommend taking the time to relax and enjoy the open scenery!
I visited Gyeongju on a beautiful day after a long time.
I felt it was a great travel destination for families during this month dedicated to family.
Hwanglidangil has many restaurants, cafes, and shops with various atmospheres, making it enjoyable to explore.
The areas around Daereungwon and the Gyeongju Historic Site are perfect for leisurely walks with family.
Visiting with children also provides a natural way to engage with history and culture.
Above all, the open landscapes of Gyeongju offered a healing experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Why not take a spring outing to Gyeongju with your family?
Escape the city and head to Gyeongju for some healing time!
