Spring Flower Viewing Spots in Jeonju

As May arrives, the beautiful weather makes it hard to stay indoors, leading to thoughts of where to go. This time, I decided to take a stroll in the city, enjoying a refreshing change of scenery without venturing too far.
Jeonju Arboretum's Populus alba Grove
In May, Jeonju Arboretum transforms into a dreamy landscape, resembling a scene with white snow gently piled up. During the early days of May, crowds flock to see the Populus alba trees, especially during the Golden Holiday.
As the wind blows, the round shapes of the Populus alba sway gently, creating a stunning visual of white waves dancing in the breeze.
This grove has become a hot spot known to many through social media in recent years. There is no other place in Korea as well-maintained as this grove, and its proximity to the parking lot makes it highly accessible.
The walking paths are mostly flat and gentle, making it stroller-friendly, allowing families to enjoy the sights together.
After visiting the Populus alba grove, you can explore the Jeonju Arboretum, which offers free admission, completing your flower-viewing itinerary in Jeonju this May.
On a beautiful day, the sight of numerous bees gathering around the fully bloomed Populus alba, all under the blue sky, is a unique springtime experience.
The Populus alba, a member of the rose family, features clusters of small white flowers that appear delicate from afar. Up close, the round petals resemble small balls, forming a stunning display of white blooms.
With the Populus alba blooming in May, we eagerly await the arrival of the queen of May, the rose, which will soon fill the arboretum with its vibrant colors.
Jeonju University Star Garden
Don't be fooled into thinking there’s nothing to see at Jeonju University just because the double cherry blossoms have fallen! Located in the city, Jeonju University is a hidden gem known only to locals for spring flower viewing.
After parking in the lot in front of the Truth Hall, you can easily access the Star Garden. Visiting on weekends allows for leisurely parking and enjoying the spring flowers of May.
In the center of the Star Garden, beautiful pink flowering moss is planted, surrounded by fully bloomed Shasta daisies.
When I visited the Star Garden on a weekend morning, I found it nearly empty, allowing me to stroll leisurely and admire the blooming Shasta daisies and Populus alba.
The Star Garden features numerous photo spots and benches, providing a perfect place to rest during your walk.
By the end of May, the Shasta daisies in Buan will be in full bloom, and you can preview them at Jeonju University’s Star Garden.
If you wish to feel as if you've stepped into a garden in the city and desire a tranquil escape, I highly recommend Jeonju University’s Star Garden. Why not find a bit of relaxation in your busy life at the Populus alba grove and the Star Garden?
