Hello, I am Heo Eun-sun from the Ulsan City Blog Reporter Group.

This spring of 2026 has been exceptional, as cherry blossoms bloomed earlier than usual, with the entire country experiencing a simultaneous bloom.

As the days pass, the cherry petals are slowly drifting away, signaling the end of their beauty. Although daytime temperatures are rising, the significant temperature difference between morning and evening has resulted in fewer petals falling at once.

With cherry blossom viewing spots in Ulsan gradually diminishing, those wishing to enjoy the most stunning scenery may have to wait until next spring.

On April 6, I had the pleasure of walking along a scenic trail in Ulsan, where cherry blossoms and bright yellow canola flowers harmoniously coexist.

Head toward the Taehwa River in Dowon-dong, Jung-gu, and you'll find well-maintained walking paths alongside a deck walkway. This route connects to Guyeong-ri and leads to the Taehwa River National Garden, making it an excellent choice for exercise or leisurely strolls.

Did you know that this path becomes even more beautiful every spring when the cherry blossoms bloom?

The lush cherry blossoms are stunning, but the vibrant yellow flowers beneath them create a breathtaking scene.

Unfortunately, it started to rain when I arrived, which was a bit disappointing, but it still provided a perfect opportunity to enjoy the rich colors of spring in a tranquil setting.

When we see clusters of yellow flowers, we often think of canola flowers, which are familiar due to their prevalence across the country and the festivals held to celebrate them. However, these flowers are not canola.

During this season, the yellow flowers blooming along the Taehwa River are known as mustard flowers, which have spread widely due to natural growth. News outlets have covered this phenomenon extensively, and a wild mustard flower observation area has been established.

If you closely examine the leaves, you'll notice they differ from canola. This wild mustard is the same plant used in making kimchi.

The spread of mustard flowers along the Taehwa River, a result of flooding, has created a unique and beautiful spring landscape.

Although the scale of the blooms has decreased over the years, the Dowon-dong area still offers stunning views. Especially during cherry blossom season, it becomes a fantastic photo spot.

As petals flutter in the breeze, this place offers a romantic spring atmosphere, making it worth visiting even after the flowers have fallen.

The long path along the riverside offers changing vistas, making it a lovely walking trail for spring days.

On a weekday visit, I found more birds than people, making it a peaceful spot to listen to the sounds of nature.

Petals were beginning to carpet the ground in pink hues. Parking is available along the roadside, and while it is primarily for residents, there is ample parking on weekdays.

There is also a free public parking lot near the path leading down to the riverside for residents. While weekends during peak bloom can be busy, weekdays allow for easier parking.

There are tables and chairs set up by local residents, making it a fantastic view spot. This hidden cherry blossom walking path in Ulsan is perfect for a spring stroll.

Once the cherry blossoms fall, the double cherry blossom season begins. In the Dowon-dong area, there are also trees that bloom with double cherry blossoms, making it another beautiful sight to behold in April.

Here are some images capturing the beauty of the season:
