Review of the Haemieupseong Kite Flying Contest????
Kim Kyung-rae also posted a review of the kite-flying contest last year!
This year, he visited Haemieupseong again and recorded the even more vibrant scene.
Colorful kites soaring over the serene Haemieupseong on the autumn breeze,
and heartwarming scenes of families and children together
Shall we take a look at the vivid review together?????✨
I wrote this post referring to the writing of Kim Kyung-rae, the 11th Seosan City SNS Supporter about the 2025 Haemieupseong Kite Flying Festival, a kite festival that adorned the autumn sky.
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the 9th Seosan Haemieupseong Kite Flying Contest was held at Seosan Haemieupseong Fortress.
As the event was only for one day, many people visited Haemieupseong from the morning, and the fortress was filled with energy as family visitors and kite-flying teams gathered from all over the country.
Location
Haemieupseong is a historically significant space where the beauty of tradition lives on, with a tranquil atmosphere that blends well with the late autumn air.
As soon as I passed through the castle gate, kites were rising one by one over the wide lawn, and the fingertips of people reading the wind and the eyes of children looking at the sky sparkled with anticipation.
The autumn breeze was blowing gently, making it the perfect weather for kite flying, and the blue sky itself provided a wonderful backdrop.
This competition was an open event that anyone could participate in. Pre-registration as well as on-site registration were possible, and many families were able to visit without any burden as participation was free.
When I arrived at the venue, there were many people holding kites and looking for the registration booth, but there were also many visitors who simply came to watch or fly kites.
Inside Haemieupseong, you could see the kite-flying experience center and the Yi Chung-mu-gong Tactical Creation Shield Pattern Kite Exhibition.
It was quite fun to see the various kites with different colors and patterns on display together.
It was interesting for both children and adults to look around, as they could compare traditional patterns with creative designs at a glance.
While looking around the Haemieupseong Festival grounds, I noticed a ray kite being sold next to the exhibition booth and bought one.
It wasn't fancy, but it had the unique charm of a traditional ray kite, so my child liked it so much that he immediately picked it up and ran.
My family decided not to participate in the competition, but to enjoy flying the ray kite we bought freely in an empty lot on one side of the competition venue.
The kite strings got tangled or the wind weakened and the kite came down for a while, but the child smiled brightly as he ran around the empty lot as if even that moment was a game.
Looking at that, I thought that the purpose of 'an event that anyone can participate in' was really alive.
The sky of Haemieupseong on this day was truly spectacular. A large eagle-shaped kite flew high like a real bird, and a long centipede-shaped kite swayed its body and swayed so gracefully that it was impossible to know how far it extended into the sky.
Colorful ray kites, traditional pattern kites, and reel kites harmonized with the scenery of Haemieupseong, giving the feeling of seeing a Joseon Dynasty landscape.
The scenery of various kites filling the sky at once felt like a performance in itself.
When I looked up, various shapes and colors of kites were scattered like threads in the blue sky, and every time the kites moved with the wind, it seemed like a new picture was being drawn in the sky.
I wondered if there had ever been a time when the autumn sky looked so busy and beautiful.
It was a happy time feeling the wind as I walked along with my child running with the kite string, and every time the kite soared high, the child felt proud as if he was moving the sky.
Above all, thanks to the charm of Haemieupseong, kite flying became an experience for the whole family to breathe with nature.
I had so much fun when I visited last year that I thought I should definitely come again this year.
This year was another great day that did not disappoint.
See you again next year!????
