Finding a place to go with kids on a rainy and cold day can be challenging. Today, I’d like to introduce you to Jirisan Herb Valley, one of the indoor attractions in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, perfect for winter visits.

The indoor area features a greenhouse that hosts permanent exhibitions and includes play facilities for children. Additionally, during winter, a sledding area operates for a limited time. Jirisan Herb Valley is a great destination for a winter visit with your child.

Admission Information

◆ Address: 265-4 Yongsan-ri, Unbong-eup, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do

◆ Operating Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (until 5:00 PM during winter months from December to February)

★ Parking available

There is an admission fee for Jirisan Herb Valley. It costs 4,000 KRW for adults, 2,000 KRW for teenagers and military personnel, and 1,500 KRW for seniors over 65 and elementary school students. Infants and Namwon residents can enter for free, but proof of residency is required.

I purchased a ticket for 4,000 KRW and received a 2,000 KRW gift certificate valid for five years, usable at restaurants and cafes in Namwon.

Jirisan Herb Valley is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on Mondays. You can enter until one hour before closing.

After getting your ticket, staff will guide you to the way up. Follow the stairs next to the ticket booth to reach the Complex Topia Hall of Jirisan Herb Valley.

In front of the Complex Topia Hall, you will find a large sculpture in the garden. Despite it being winter, the area is decorated with tall couple sculptures, snowmen, and Christmas ornaments.

The atmosphere at Jirisan Herb Valley changes with the seasons, but winter is ideal for enjoying the indoor spaces. The first floor features a Kids Land, making it a great visit for families.

Upon entering, you will find Kids Land on your right, where children's eyes light up with excitement. During my visit, the outdoor sledding area was open, so the indoor area was relatively quiet. Once the sledding ends, I imagine this place will be bustling with activity. The play area is designed for safe play.

On the left, there’s a warm greenhouse. As soon as I stepped inside, it felt like I had transported to another season. The warmth and humidity, along with blooming flowers and lush plants, created a vibrant atmosphere contrasting with the winter outside.

The camellia trees were just starting to bud, and I can imagine they might be blooming by now. The spacious indoor area allows for leisurely exploration, with many photo opportunities.

In the greenhouse, you can escape the winter chill, making it a perfect spot for a winter visit. The exotic ambiance feels like a mini vacation.

Additionally, there is an insect exhibition where children can see insects and butterflies up close, adding an educational aspect to the visit.

On the second floor, you will find an outdoor area leading to an exhibition hall connected to the Complex Topia Hall. Inside, booths reminiscent of a flea market were set up, suggesting that flea markets might be held occasionally.

Currently, potted plants are displayed in the wooden booths, creating a pleasant atmosphere with ample space for relaxation.

Jirisan Herb Valley also has an outdoor garden, but due to the cold winter, I was informed at the ticket booth that there wasn’t much to see, so I briefly visited the nearest Oheub Garden. In spring, when flowers bloom and plants turn green again, it would be a lovely outing with kids.

While options for winter outings are limited, Jirisan Herb Valley in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, is an excellent space to spend time with kids without worrying about the cold. Kids can have fun in the Kids Land and experience a taste of spring in the greenhouse.

If you’re looking for a place to visit with your child on a rainy and cold day, consider visiting Jirisan Herb Valley. It’s a cozy yet delightful spot where you can feel greenery and warmth even in winter.
