Grow Gym PT: Perfect for Beginners and Introverts Alike
Hello everyone, I'm Dongdong!
I knew I needed to start weight training to lose weight, but actually getting started wasn't easy.
That's when I discovered Grow Gym PT, a personal training studio in Tanbang-dong. I liked that it offered a private space exclusively for members, one-on-one customized sessions, and a systematic approach to fitness, so I decided to give it a try.
To cut to the chase, I highly recommend it to anyone who's new to exercise or feels intimidated by crowded gyms due to their introverted personality.
Let's get started!
Grow Gym PT
☀️ Operating Hours & Location
☀️ Mon - Sat 07:00 - 23:00, Closed on Sundays
✅ Bring your own workout clothes and shoes. (Sweat towels and shower towels are provided)
☀️ #401, 15, Munye-ro, Seo-gu, Daejeon
☀️️ Free parking for 2 hours within the building - You must register your vehicle number on the tablet at the front desk.
Located close to Dunsan-dong and a 5-minute walk from Tanbang Station, it's easily accessible. I recommend using public transportation or driving as there's parking available.
☀️ Atmosphere & Interior
Grow Gym boasts a bright and airy atmosphere with its white and beige interior and large, sunlit windows.
Instead of the typical loud music and noise of a gym, gentle music plays, creating a relaxing atmosphere to start your workout, which I personally loved.
Consultation & Rest Zone
On your first visit, you'll consult with a trainer here to discuss your fitness goals, lifestyle habits, and body type.
Workout Equipment & Stretching Zone
The gym is equipped with stretching tools such as exercise balls, foam rollers, and massage balls, as well as various workout machines, making it ideal for both cardio and weight training, and for loosening up your muscles before and after your workout.
Locker Room & Shower Room
Individual shower booths are available and kept clean. It's convenient for going straight to work or heading out after a morning workout.
What impressed me the most during this PT experience was that every session was tailored to my body's condition.
On the first day, my body composition was measured, and a functional test was conducted to analyze my current state. As I mentioned earlier, I had very little core strength and struggled to support my own weight. (I had many thoughts as I watched my arms tremble while doing push-ups.)
However, my trainer assured me that it was possible and created a customized plan tailored to my situation.
Since I was starting to exercise after a long break, my core muscles were almost gone, so we avoided heavy weights from the beginning. The sessions consisted mainly of bodyweight exercises and light-weight training.
Bench Press
The trainer explained the importance of basic movements and body functions while slowly and thoroughly teaching me the proper form. (I felt that he was the best at explaining things among all the trainers I've met.)
Deadlift
The trainer accurately and meticulously taught me the deadlift, a basic exercise that helps balance the waist and lower body.
Bicep & Tricep Exercises
The trainer carefully guided me through bicep and tricep exercises to strengthen my upper arm muscles, focusing on correct form even if I couldn't lift heavy weights.
Shoulder Exercises
When working out the chest and back, I was only using the front muscles, causing my shoulders to roll forward a lot. The trainer said it was important to correct this by doing exercises that work the opposite muscles to prevent the shoulders from rolling forward.
In addition, when doing back exercises, the trainer divided the exercises by the specific area of stimulation and explained why each exercise was necessary and which area it helped, making it easy to understand.
When doing abdominal bodyweight exercises, the trainer focused on core muscle activation and basic stamina recovery. What was great was the feedback he gave me along the way to ensure I was using correct form and didn’t feel any pain.
I was particularly impressed by the trainer's statement that 'everyone's body is different, so the workout method should also be different to suit them'.
Grow Gym trainers are constantly studying through seminars and training sessions, regardless of weekdays or weekends. They share knowledge through study groups and are composed of sports performance experts with various certifications.
Perhaps that's why my trainer had a high level of understanding of exercise and designed the sessions considering my body's characteristics and limitations.
Grow Gym is a dedicated space only for members, so it was quiet even during peak evening hours.
In fact, there were only 1-2 people besides the trainer while I was working out. If you're an introverted person who feels uncomfortable in crowded places, you'll be especially satisfied with the environment, allowing you to focus solely on your workout.
Tanbang-dong PT Grow Gym Honest Review
What I realized through this PT experience was that 'where you work out' and 'who you work out with' are really important. Grow Gym provides PT training tailored to each person's individual body type.
I would recommend this place to:
1) People who are new to exercise and don't know where to start.
2) People who are resuming exercise after a long break and need to rebuild their basic fitness.
3) People who need professional guidance, such as body correction or rehabilitation exercises.
4) People looking for PT in or near Tanbang-dong and Dunsan-dong.
See you in the next post!
