Itaewon Sarangchae: Makgeolli and Jeon with a Traditional Korean Vibe

Hello!
Let me introduce you to Itaewon Sarangchae, a place near Pyeonghwa Plaza where you can enjoy makgeolli in a setting that evokes a traditional Korean tavern (Jumak).
Itaewon Sarangchae is my go-to spot whenever I crave makgeolli and jeon (Korean pancakes)! The old-fashioned Jumak atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is delicious, making it a place I visit often.
I ordered the assorted jeon, which is Itaewon Sarangchae's signature dish. It comes with kimchi made of green onions (pakimchi) and fermented seafood (jeotgal) to enjoy together!
They meticulously pan-fry nine different kinds of jeon on a cast iron lid. The jeon are so savory and delicious that they make the makgeolli go down even smoother!

They also have a wide variety of makgeolli, making it my friend and my favorite makgeolli place! Today, I'm enjoying a nutty and savory cup of misutgaru makgeolli (makgeolli with roasted multi-grain powder)!
It wasn't enough, so I ordered a bottle of bokbunja makgeolli (raspberry wine) as well! The spicy sauce that they give you with the dish keeps you from getting sick of it, so I was able to eat it all the way through to the very end. If you enjoy makgeolli and jeon, I highly recommend Itaewon Sarangchae!
