Despite facing setbacks at the threshold of professionalism,
there are those who persistently challenge themselves.
They are the players of the Gyeonggi Independent Baseball League (GIBL).
Every season, they prove their potential on the field,
opening doors to new opportunities.
Let’s hear their true stories of relentless pursuit of dreams.

Those who do not give up, the Gyeonggi Independent Baseball League
The independent baseball league is for players who have not made it to the professional stage or have been released from professional teams,
giving them a chance to seize opportunities once again.
Although lacking in glamorous lights and cheering crowds,
the determination in their eyes rivals that of professional players.
This is where they sweat and compete,
the Gyeonggi Independent Baseball League.
Gyeonggi League
The league is organized by the Gyeonggi Baseball Softball Association,
with support from Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Sports Council.
Established in 2019 with funding from Gyeonggi Province,
it is one of the few independent baseball leagues operating steadily nationwide,
now entering its eighth season.
The stories of players who are ready to challenge again
remind us that this is more than just a baseball league; it is a space filled with passion and hope.
To sustain the league, stable financial support is essential.
However, independent baseball teams struggle to secure self-sustainability due to low advertising and broadcasting rights income.
This makes fan interest and direct participation more crucial than ever.
Thus, Gyeonggi Province is conducting a fan participation project through the crowdfunding platform 'Culture Moa',
involving nine independent baseball teams until June 10.
Fans can participate in projects for their supported teams and receive limited edition jerseys as rewards.
This initiative allows fans to engage in the team's growth process, adding more meaning beyond simple sponsorship.
Funds raised will be fully allocated for league promotion, player support, and facility improvements.
Participating teams will provide limited edition jerseys as crowdfunding rewards.
The crowdfunding project is an opportunity for fans to create team jerseys with their own hands.
Nine independent baseball teams from various regions in Gyeonggi Province are participating in this funding.
Finding a team representing your neighborhood, from Yeoncheon to Dongducheon, Suwon, and Hwaseong, adds to the fun.
If you discover your local team, you can cheer for them with even more special feelings.
By participating in a project of your favorite team, you can receive a limited edition jersey as a reward.
The funding will continue until June 10.
Why not join in and support?
“Can players from independent baseball really make it to the pros?”
If you are curious, pay attention.
The Gyeonggi League has produced a total of 52 players who have advanced to professional teams.
Notably, players like Hwang Young-mook of Hanwha Eagles and Son Ho-young of LG Twins,
both hail from Yeoncheon Miracle.
Hwang Young-mook gained attention during his independent league days with a record of 23 consecutive games with hits and a batting average over .400.
He has also appeared on programs like KBS's 'Youth Baseball Team' and JTBC's 'Strong Baseball', gaining public recognition.
Son Ho-young was a key player for Yeoncheon Miracle and was drafted in the 3rd round by LG Twins in the 2019 KBO Rookie Draft.
The examples of these two players continue to inspire those pursuing their dreams in independent baseball.
The current season started in March and consists of a total of 144 games.
After completing the first half on May 20, the second half began on May 25.
Even now, intense games are ongoing across various baseball fields in Gyeonggi Province.
