A refreshing and healing destination in Jeollanam-do, perfect for a family outing.
Located in Jeollanam-do, the Forest Research Institute offers lush greenery and a peaceful environment. It's a great arboretum to visit with children.

I visited the Naju Forest Resources Research Institute in Jeollanam-do with my parents in early May. Surrounded by lush greenery, it was such a pleasant experience.
I heard that you can see purple Liriope muscari flowers along the Metasequoia road in August and September, so it seems like a great time to visit now!
Even the road leading to the institute was filled with greenery, building excitement before arriving.
We could see the entrance to the Forest Research Institute in the distance! To get to the parking lot, you need to go straight ahead.
Zooming in on the map, you'll see the main gate if you go a little further. The parking lot is right after you enter the main gate, so park there.
Being impatient, we entered as soon as we saw the Forest Research Institute and parked in front of the research building... But it's all connected inside, so we walked along the path.
Seeing the clover growing abundantly, my mom made rings and bracelets for us!
This is the parking lot you'll find when you enter through the main gate!
There are benches everywhere, and the shade from the lush trees makes it a great place to relax and take a leisurely stroll. We really enjoyed the Naju Forest Resources Research Institute.
The institute is quite large, and not far from the main gate is a forest playground for children.
The facilities are designed for children to play, and it immediately made me think of my nieces and nephews. I should bring them here next time!
There's plenty of space for kids to run around, making it a perfect spot for families!
As mentioned earlier, the Jeollanam-do Forest Research Institute is quite large. So, we didn't get to see everything.
Please note that food, mats, tents, scooters, and bicycles are prohibited, and pets are not allowed. Be sure to check these restrictions before visiting.
Also, the operating hours differ by about an hour between summer and winter, so please keep that in mind.
The Metasequoia road at the Naju Forest Resources Research Institute is truly stunning!
I've been to the Metasequoia road in Damyang and the one inside the Suncheonman National Garden, but the trees here seemed really old and tall!!!
It's a must to take photos here as they turn out beautifully!
It's such a beautiful place that soothes your eyes and mind.
I wanted to take some snapshots of my parents, so I asked them to run around happily. They cooperated well, even though they seemed a bit annoyed!
If you go with me, you have to take pictures everywhere! We need to capture these moments somehow.
My parents and I were surprised by the extremely tall trees. They were called Loblolly Pines.
They grow to about 30m in height and 1m in diameter. The Loblolly Pines planted here were moved from the old Forestry Experiment Station in Ssangchon-dong, Gwangju, when the research institute relocated from Gwangju to its current location in Naju in 1975.
Knowing the story, it felt even more special as it shares the history with the Jeollanam-do Forest Research Institute.
There's also a deck path inside, so if you like arboretums, you should definitely visit!
My parents were very satisfied with the place.
Since it's operated by the Forest Research Institute, you can see many unique trees, and the place is well-maintained. I enjoyed my time at the Naju Forest Research Institute so much that I lost track of time.
It was so adorable that I couldn't resist taking a picture!
I can't just pass by a mirror without taking a picture.
Wow! The scenery was so breathtaking that I wondered if I was really in Korea.
The trees were called Emerald Green, growing straight and beautifully in a conical shape without pruning. They were so impressive!
For a moment, I thought I was abroad!
I took some photos of my parents. The trees were so tall and magnificent that the pictures turned out great.
Walking further, there were cuter, rounder trees than the ones we saw earlier.
The landscaping around the area is very well done. If you're looking for a place to visit in Jeollanam-do, I highly recommend the Naju Forest Resources Research Institute.
As you can see, there are pavilions and benches everywhere, making it a perfect place to take a break.
My parents enjoy hiking and love nature, so they had a great time exploring the place.
They were also surprised by the unexpectedly large size of the institute.
It was time to go home, and even though we had seen so much, I felt sad to leave. I'm so glad I visited the Naju Forest Research Institute!
I visited in May when everything was lush and green, but I heard that the Liriope muscari flowers bloom in purple in August and September, so it would be a great time to visit now!
