◆ Starting Point
Daewangam Cultural Interpreter's House
Experience the breathtaking scenery of unique rock formations and the blue sea among Ulsan's top attractions!
If you wish to learn more about Daewangam, you can join a cultural interpreter's tour.
※ Closed on Mondays.
▶ Songnim (Pine Forest)
◆ Point 1
✔️ Entrance to the Suspension Bridge (Ticket Office)
- Ulsan's first suspension bridge! Experience the 303m long bridge.
- Admission: Free
▶ Suspension Bridge
Admission to the suspension bridge is free, but it may not operate depending on the weather.
Follow the guidance of the staff present during your visit.
▶ Coastal Walkway
The coastal walkway has flat areas but also steep stairs, so caution is advised.
※ This is the widest area among the coastal rocks in the northern part of Neobdaegi Park.
From the end of the suspension bridge, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ilsan Beach.
◆ Point 2
The QR code is located at the entrance of Yonggul (Dragon Cave). The natural cave, where a dragon is said to live, has many stairs, providing a good exercise opportunity for health.
▶ Yonggul (Dragon Cave)
The legend says that a dragon once lived here and disrupted the shipping routes, prompting the Dragon King of the East Sea to seal it off with a large stone.
When I visited, the waves created by the wind enhanced the beauty of the cave's scenery.
◆ Point 3
The QR code is located at the entrance of Daewangam.
This is a place to stroll while listening to the legends of the rocks told by the sea breeze, and it is associated with the legend of King Munmu, who unified the Three Kingdoms.
▶ Daewangam
A tourist from Gwangju, who was visiting Ulsan during a 4-night, 5-day trip, shared that today they visited Ulgidong Lighthouse Park. They enjoyed the sea views and natural scenery, particularly impressed by the stunning views around the lighthouse.
▶ Fresh Seafood
At the sea in front of Ulgidong Lighthouse, divers catch fresh seafood, which is carefully sold to tourists. This scene reflects the harmony of the sea, nature, and the diligent efforts of the divers, showcasing the vibrant traditional culture of Korean female divers.
It is a unique space where the vitality of the sea intersects with people's lives.
▶ Ulgidong Lighthouse
Another tourist attraction in the Daewangam Park, combining the sea, nature, and the lighthouse.
◆ Ending Point
The QR code is the same as the starting point, and scanning the ending QR code will conclude the activity.
The souvenir shop at Daewangam Park features a variety of handmade products, resembling a small art gallery, which is worth visiting.
There are also areas where you can relax with children and have fun.
◆ Review
The Ulsan Unique Cultural Love Course 4, starting from the Cultural Interpreter's House, offered a stunning view of the open sea with Ilsan Beach as the backdrop from the Songnim Suspension Bridge Observatory.
The course returning through Yonggul, Daewangam, the divers' stalls, the coastal food corner, and Ulgidong Lighthouse provided a touching experience of nature, history, and culture.
One tourist I met, who traveled along the East Coast after retiring from Gwangju, expressed, "It’s wonderful to see the East Sea, which is different from the West Sea," and was surprised to discover such a beautiful place in Ulsan, which he had only associated with industrial cities.
This was a meaningful volunteer activity where I could feel the new charm of Ulsan.
