As summer arrives, many seek the sea, and Ulsan boasts beautiful beaches along the East Sea.

I recently visited two stunning pebble beaches in Ulsan: Gangdong Pebble Beach and Jujeon Pebble Beach, where I enjoyed the soothing sound of waves rolling over the pebbles.

First, I explored Gangdong Pebble Beach located in the northern part of Ulsan. This beach, along with Jujeon Pebble Beach, is recognized as one of Ulsan's twelve scenic spots, showcasing the area's beautiful natural environment.

A new observation deck, Whale Plaza, has been established between the parking lots at Gangdong Pebble Beach, offering stunning views of the coastline.

Surrounding Whale Plaza, soft lighting creates a serene atmosphere for evening strolls and exercise along the beach.

In the northern and eastern districts of Ulsan, you'll find pebble beaches rather than sandy shores. As you walk down the winding pebble beach, you can even spot areas with coarse sand.

Gangdong Pebble Beach allows for camping with cooking facilities, making it a popular spot filled with tents. Visitors can be seen resting in the shade or enjoying the sea.

The beach is lined with round pebbles, and walking along it while listening to the soothing sounds of the waves can be quite therapeutic.

Heading further up from Gangdong Pebble Beach, you can admire the Gangdong Lava Column, where a resting pavilion provides a perfect spot to take a break.

Many families enjoy swimming along the beach area sheltered by large rocks.

The Gangdong Lava Column is a well-preserved geological site that showcases the early geological formations of the East Sea.

Gangdong borders Gyeongju, and the terrain of the Gangdong Lava Column extends to Jujeon Pebble Beach along the coast. The formation of these columns occurred when lava rapidly cooled upon contact with seawater, resulting in the pebble beach we see today after thousands of years of wave erosion.

The beach at Gangdong Lava Column features slightly coarser sand, making it a great spot for swimming.

Next, I visited Jujeon Pebble Beach, located above the Ulsan Mipo National Industrial Complex. Here, visitors can find a photo zone with round pebble sculptures.

Similar to Gangdong, Jujeon Pebble Beach is filled with small round pebbles, and many visitors set up tents along the beach to enjoy the sea.

Visitors can also observe the remnants of lava flows that formed the columns in the past.

Walking barefoot along the beach allows you to feel the pressure of the pebbles, providing a natural foot massage.

Gangdong and Jujeon Pebble Beaches are part of the Haepalang Trail, which stretches from Busan to Gangwon along the East Sea. You can enjoy trekking along the coastal paths connected to the beaches.

Compared to crowded and famous beaches, Gangdong and Jujeon Pebble Beaches offer a tranquil escape where you can leisurely enjoy the sea and scenery.

This summer, consider visiting these serene pebble beaches in Ulsan for a relaxing getaway, where you can enjoy camping and the gentle sounds of the waves.
