Exploring the Universe at Muju Bandibyeol Astronomy Science Museum
From the birth of the universe to the stories of constellations,
there is a special place in Muju, Jeollabuk-do, where you can observe the beautiful stars in the night sky with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, along with various exhibitions and experiences.
This place is the Bandibyeol Astronomy Science Museum located within Muju Bandiland. Today, I will introduce the main highlights and experience courses of the Muju Bandibyeol Astronomy Science Museum, which is also recommended as a place to visit with children!

If you visit by car, you can search for '1324 Museol-ro, Seolcheon-myeon, Muju-gun' to reach the location. There is ample parking available, making it convenient for those driving. After parking, it takes about a 3-minute walk to reach the museum.
Upon entering the museum, you can purchase tickets at the information desk on the first floor. The admission fee is 3,000 KRW for adults, and it's advisable to check in advance for group discounts or free admission eligibility.
The Muju Bandibyeol Astronomy Science Museum is known for its excellent observation environment and equipment among public observatories in Korea. The space is divided into exhibition halls and an astronomical observation room, with themes organized by floor from the first to the third.
On the first floor, there is an information desk and kiosks where you can check exhibition information by floor. One side features a trick art photo zone and a resting area where you can observe actual meteorites, making it an engaging space for children right from the entrance.
The second floor showcases exhibitions from the Big Bang to the birth of the sun and Earth, as well as humanity's efforts to explore the universe. Interactive content such as puzzles and touch screen activities to understand the solar system are available, making it an optimal indoor experience space for children!
On the third floor, visitors can observe celestial bodies through telescopes and explore exhibitions themed around constellations.
Here, you can learn about the structure and history of telescopes and even experience the assembly process through a screen, making it an intriguing time for both children and adults.
The auxiliary observation room on the third floor is set up for direct observation of the night sky over Muju and the countless stars within it!
Observations are limited to the first 30 people each day, with ticket sales starting at 1 PM. Currently, celestial observations take place in the auxiliary observation room, while the main observation room is used for research and special events.
A helpful tip is to check with the museum in advance about observation availability, especially on cloudy days, as actual observations may not be possible.
