Ulsan Jangsaengpo was the center of the domestic whaling industry and is now designated as a whale culture special zone, featuring a unique whale-themed tourism infrastructure, including the Whale Culture Village, Whale Museum, Whale Ecology Experience Center, and Whale Sea Tour.
Since the establishment of the Whale Museum in May 2005, the area was designated as a whale culture special zone in 2008, leading to its development as a tourist destination, and the Whale Ecology Experience Center was built in 2009, shaping the current form of the whale culture special zone.
Why is Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village Special?
Established in 2015, the Whale Culture Village recreates the atmosphere of the old Jangsaengpo whaling village, featuring various themes and stories, including the Whale Plaza, Old Jangsaengpo Village, Prehistoric Whale Yard, Whale Sculpture Garden, and Aquatic Plant Garden.
This is not just an ordinary theme park.
Within this village, you can encounter the homes and alleys where the people of Jangsaengpo lived during the peak of whaling, experiencing the vivid traces of their lives. It was a fascinating experience where every step transported me back in time.
