The Ulsan Ulju Comprehensive Childcare Support Center operates in various districts, each with its own unique atmosphere and setup. Today, I visited the center in Ulju-gun, which impressed me with its spacious play areas for children and diverse play support programs.
Located at 101-18 Guyeong-ro, Beomeo-eup, Ulju-gun, the center is easily accessible and has ample parking space in front of the building, making visits more convenient. On a pleasant day, children can enjoy the playground right outside the main entrance.
The center operates from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and until 5 PM on Saturdays, providing a relaxed schedule for visitors. However, it is closed on Sundays and public holidays, so checking the schedule before visiting is essential.
Another aspect to keep in mind is the lunch break, during which some facilities or programs may be limited. Confirming this in advance can help ensure a smooth visit.
Upon entering and preparing to take off my shoes, I was pleasantly surprised to see a stroller disinfector. Strollers can quickly accumulate dust and germs, but here, you can leave your stroller in the disinfector while you enjoy the center, ensuring it is clean when you return. This service is quite satisfying for parents.
One of the first places I visited was the 'Whispering Picture Book Library.' The vibrant colors immediately capture your attention, and the curved desks and corner protectors show that safety is a priority. The low bookshelves are designed for young children to easily access books, which I appreciated.
Membership is required for borrowing books, with personal members allowed to borrow up to 10 books for 14 days. A popular feature here is the story-reading robot, 'Luca,' which acts as a small teacher for children who are not yet able to read independently. Using Luca is simple; just select a book with a Luca sticker, scan the cover, and it will read the content clearly.
The library also has a corner for parents, providing a space to find answers to various parenting concerns through books. While parenting doesn’t always go as written, the important thing is the learning process for new parents.
Going up the soft stairs, I discovered the 'Oliboli Multicultural Library,' which feels like a hidden gem. The atmosphere encourages you to relax and read, with bean bags available for comfort and books from various cultures providing a sense of global travel.
The center also has a toy rental room, offering a wide variety of toys for different age groups. This is a practical solution for parents who find it financially burdensome to buy new toys as their children grow. Renting toys here is relatively inexpensive, allowing for easy exchanges based on the child's interests and developmental stage.
The last space on the first floor is the family lounge, a perfect spot for parents to take a break. It features spacious seating, lockers for personal items, and microwaves for heating baby food or simple meals, ensuring convenience during outings.
On the second floor, there are special areas designed to stimulate children's senses, including the 'Cooking Experience Room' and the 'Play Room.' These areas require prior reservation and offer various interactive programs for parents and children to enjoy together.
Finally, the infant playroom is a safe and comfortable space for babies to explore. It has a limit of 15 households at a time, ensuring a calm environment. The playroom is open on Saturdays as well, making it accessible for working parents.
Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the facilities and services that exceeded my expectations. All services are offered at little to no cost, making it an invaluable resource for families in Ulju-gun.
