Exploring the Serenity of Donggung and Wolji in Gyeongju

May, with its many holidays and beautiful weather,
is a month that makes you want to travel with family.
I recently visited the tranquil Donggung and Wolji in Gyeongju!
While it is often recognized as a must-see destination for its night views,
I would like to share the beauty of its greenery during the day.
Donggung and Wolji
Address: 102 Wonhwa-ro, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do
Opening Hours: Daily 09:00 - 22:00
Admission: Adults 3,000 KRW / Children 1,000 KRW
During the day, the vibrant Donggung and Wolji present a peaceful landscape
surrounded by refreshing greenery.
It is a popular spot for family trips,
so you will find many families visiting.
This site represents the original garden of the Silla Dynasty,
where records indicate that King Munmu dug a large pond and cultivated rare plants and animals.
In the middle of the pond, there are three islands and twelve peaks to the north and east.
It is said that banquets were held here to celebrate national events
or to welcome distinguished guests, and seeing this scenery,
I can easily understand why.
While most people visit at night to admire the reflections of the pavilions,
the daytime offers a comprehensive view of the ruins and surrounding landscapes.
Gyeongju in May is filled with freshness,
and every spot is a perfect photo opportunity.
The serene colors of the traditional hanok
and its unique peaceful atmosphere were delightful.
Walking through Donggung and Wolji with family,
the most charming aspect was the large trees
that lined the walking paths.
Even when the sun was strong in May,
there were many comfortable resting spots in the shade.
I enjoyed contemplating the scenery from a bench under a tree.
Although it is known as a night view hotspot,
it can be crowded in the evening,
but during the day, it was relaxed and tranquil.
Donggung and Wolji, previously thought to be beautiful only at night,
showed me their refreshing daytime charm.
Why not hold hands with your family and enjoy the greenery this May?
