Exploring the Heart of Ulsan: The Big Aegi House

As you walk through the historic downtown of Jung-gu, Ulsan, you will encounter the cheerful character known as 'Ulsan Big Aegi' wearing a lively dress and shyly smiling at you from various spots.
This character is the representative of Jung-gu, Ulsan, and has received awards as a regional character in South Korea.
Today, I would like to introduce you to the 'Big Aegi House,' a multi-cultural space that serves as a home for Ulsan Big Aegi and a hub for travelers.
At the entrance of the building, you can find information about the origin and background of Ulsan Big Aegi, along with details about what Jung-gu is like.
More than just a promotional center, it is a multi-purpose tourist hub that offers tourist information, character merchandise sales, and unique experience spaces.
First Floor: Information and Merchandise Shop
Operating Hours: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Last entry at 6:30 PM)
Closed: Open year-round
Upon entering the first floor, a variety of colorful merchandise featuring Ulsan Big Aegi catches your eye.
From practical stationery to cute dolls, eco-bags, and mugs, there is a wide variety of items available.
For those looking to cherish memories of their trip to Ulsan or to gift special souvenirs to friends, this is a must-visit spot.
I personally use a coin purse featuring Ulsan Big Aegi, and it brings me joy when people compliment its cuteness every time I take it out.
During the house manager's lunch break, only viewing and tourist information services are available on the first floor, with purchases resuming after lunch.
Second Floor: The Big Aegi Room - A Cozy Retreat
Climbing the stairs to the second floor gives you the feeling of being invited into a lovingly decorated room.
This space is themed as the 'Big Aegi Room.'
You can take a moment to relax on a comfortable sofa, and there are stationery and pens available for writing letters.
One corner features an adorable pink bed that looks like Ulsan Big Aegi could wake up at any moment, making it a popular photo spot.
On the opposite side, you can also participate in a mug-making experience, creating a unique cup with your own design, which is especially popular among families and couples.
This experience can be accessed for a fee of 5,000 KRW after prepayment on the first floor.
Third Floor: The Eight Youth Photo Studio - A Journey to the Past
Moving to the third floor, you will encounter a completely different atmosphere.
This is the 'Eight Youth Photo Studio,' a special studio where you can capture the brightest moments of youth.
The studio is perfectly decorated in a stylish retro theme, making it easy to take life-changing photos with just a click of the shutter.
Using the studio alone is free for one hour, and if you rent costumes along with studio access, it costs 10,000 KRW for two hours per person, making it quite reasonable.
The highlight of the photo studio is undoubtedly the costumes. From dresses of the Enlightenment era to educational outfits, along with matching shoes, bags, and various accessories, everything is prepared.
There is also a variety of shoes to match your outfit, and not only women's clothing but also men's suits are available, making it an ideal spot for friends or couples to take themed photos.
The Big Aegi House in Jung-gu, Ulsan, is a space where the warm sentiment of the area coexists with modern sensibilities.
If you are planning a trip to Ulsan or want to create special memories with your family over the weekend, I highly recommend visiting the 'Big Aegi House' in the heart of the historic downtown.
