Hello! As the hot summer arrives, we often long for cool water streams and lush nature.
Today, I would like to introduce Gyeongcheon Island, a gem-like destination in Sangju, Gyeongbuk, where you can blow away the heat with a stunning fountain show!
Shall we set off to this place that guarantees 100% satisfaction, whether you visit with a partner, family, or friends?
Gyeongcheon Island is a 200,000㎡ island located in the upper Nakdong River. The entire island is an ecological park.
The gently flowing Nakdong River and the cliffs of Bibongsan create a beautiful landscape. Each season, the island is adorned with seasonal flowers, and at sunset, the view of the sunset and the golden Nakdong River is famous for its beauty, attracting many tourists.
Location: 968-1 Osang-ri, Jungdong-myeon, Sangju, Gyeongbuk
There are beautiful bridges connecting the island, such as Bangwol Bridge and Nakgang Bridge. In particular, Nakgang Bridge is one of the most impressive pedestrian bridges in the country, featuring a transparent glass section (Skywalk) in the middle that offers a thrilling experience of walking over the river.
As you stroll along the fresh Metasequoia path of the themed walking trail, you will encounter an emotional red phone booth and a hill of pinwheels. Every spot is filled with beautiful places where you can capture life's perfect moments.
Parking information for Sangju Gyeongcheon Island: A large dedicated parking lot is conveniently available near the entrance of Gyeongcheon Park, so you don't have to worry about parking. The parking fee is 'free', allowing you to enjoy your healing time without time constraints.
Experience a special adventure on the water with the Nakdong River Water Tour Bus. You can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Gyeongcheon Island and the surrounding cliffs, providing tourists with a variety of water leisure experiences.
Water Tour Bus fare: 5,000 won for one-way, 10,000 won for a round trip, making it a great way to create special memories. This circular tourist route connects Gyeongcheon Island, Hoisangnaru, Sangju Water Leisure Center, and Gyeongcheondae, offering a differentiated experience by appreciating Sangju's attractions from the water rather than on land.
Operating hours of the Water Tour Bus: From Gyeongcheon Island to Hoisangnaru Tourist Area to Sangju Water Camping Site and back to Gyeongcheon Island. You can board at designated stops and disembark at your desired stops to freely explore the attractions. The bus runs from 10 AM to 7 PM, every 10 minutes (7 times a day), with no service during lunchtime from 12 PM to 12:50 PM.
The fountain show at Bangwol Bridge operates regularly, showcasing the essence of refreshment. The mist created by the fountain, combined with the river breeze, quickly makes you forget the summer heat. However, the operation may vary depending on weather conditions, so it's advisable to check the weather forecast before your visit.
The fountain show operates from May to October, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM and again at 8:30 PM, running for 25 minutes each time, ten times a day.
A visitor guide map of Gyeongcheon Park is available, showing three routes (A, B, C) based on distance and time, allowing you to explore the island efficiently according to your fitness level and schedule.
Now, let's cross Bangwol Bridge while enjoying the fountain show!
With its grand arch structure reminiscent of a giant heart or wings, Bangwol Bridge offers a refreshing experience with mist spraying from both sides, cooling down the summer heat.
The overall view of Bangwol Bridge and the beautifully operating fountain system can be seen from afar. The modern bridge design and the eco-friendly waterfront space perfectly harmonize, proving it to be a representative landmark of Sangju.
The sturdy walkway of Nakgang Bridge, neatly finished with wooden flooring, features a transparent glass section in the middle, providing a thrilling sensation of walking over the Nakdong River.
Walking over the blue Nakdong River while enjoying the magnificent fountain show and lush nature makes Gyeongcheon Island a must-visit! How about taking your loved ones for a refreshing and romantic getaway this weekend? Let the heat fade away! May you create happy and refreshing memories at Gyeongcheon Island.
