Saying goodbye to the colorful maple trees and autumn scenery of November, we're preparing to welcome winter on this last day of November.

Today, I'm excited to share information about a great place to visit with kids: the Hoecheon Urban Forest and Hwajeong Children's Forest Experience Area!

Today's featured location is the Hoecheon Urban Forest and Children's Forest Experience Area, created for citizens around the Seoul National Forest Management Office's Yangju Management Team in Hwajeong-dong.

The Hoecheon Urban Forest & Hwajeong Children's Forest Experience Area offered forest interpretation programs for the public from March to November 2025, at 10 AM and 2 PM.

This year's forest interpretation program is closed, but those interested can inquire next March using the provided phone number.

Since the Hoecheon Urban Forest and Hwajeong Children's Forest Experience Area are not registered in navigation systems, be sure to search for the Seoul National Forest Yangju Management Team.

Upon arrival, you'll discover an unexpectedly magnificent Metasequoia forest path.

Pass through the main gate and follow the signs to the left to find the Hoecheon Urban Forest trail.

The Hoecheon Urban Forest features an experience forest for children, forest trails, a wildflower garden, a forest bathing area, and an observation deck.

Located away from the road, you can focus more on the sounds of birds, the wind, and the rustling of leaves, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere that perfectly complements autumn.

It's rare to hear the sound of fallen leaves unless you intentionally go to see the autumn foliage, but here, you'll find yourself walking on paths covered with fallen leaves rather than the convenient coconut fiber mats.

After climbing a slight incline, you'll reach the Sky Observation Deck, overlooking the Deokjeong Station area.

Although it's a modest observation deck, you can still see Deokjeong Station, the surrounding apartments, and the currently under-construction Hoecheon district.

Despite being a small forest, it offers a grassy plaza, the Hwajeong-dong Children's Forest Experience Area, and leisurely forest trails, making it a fun place to explore with children while following the signs.

This place is great to visit any time of year, but I personally recommend May to June, when the greenery is lush and perfect for strolling, and October and early November, when the autumn foliage is beautifully colored.

If you visit during the recommended months, you'll find yourself returning to the peaceful and secluded Hoecheon Urban Forest every year!

To help you relax and heal properly in the forest, there are long wooden benches and wooden sunbeds where you can lie down and look up at the sky, making it a great place to take a break during your walk.

Hwajeong-dong Children's Forest Experience Area: A Great Place to Visit with Kids in Yangju

The Hwajeong-dong Children's Forest Experience Area, designed to allow children to engage in various experiential activities in the forest, is managed and operated by the Northern Regional Forest Service and the Seoul National Forest Management Office.

Yangju City has many forest bathing areas, children's forest experience areas, forest trails, and walking paths created for its citizens.

It might be fun to challenge yourself to a forest trail stamp tour, exploring the forest trails and walking paths created in each region.

The forest is well-equipped with various attractions and experiential play facilities, such as insect hotels and cicada shelters, so that children can experience nature while growing up, developing their exploration skills, creativity, and concentration through various experiential activities in the forest.

There are also ladder climbing areas, butterfly photo zones, and beetle houses, making it a great place to spend a quiet and sunny day if you're looking for a place to take children in Yangju.

This area is located around the Seoul National Forest Yangju Management Office, so there are set operating hours.

It is open from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays, and closed on weekends, so please keep this in mind when visiting.

When visiting with pets, please be sure to follow pet etiquette, such as collecting excrement and wearing a leash, and please refrain from bringing flammable materials or smoking, especially during the fire-prone season.

If you're looking for a secluded forest where you can walk, rest, and heal properly while waiting for the new winter, I recommend the Hoecheon Urban Forest and Hwajeong-dong Children's Forest Experience Area as a great place to visit with kids in Yangju.
