Enjoying the Night Views and Christmas Atmosphere in Seoul
서울 중구 세종대로 2

Seoul offers countless night date spots, but Seoul Station and Seoullo 7017 stand out as places where history and modern city life meet beautifully after dark.
This walk explores illuminated sculptures, Christmas decorations, rooftop gardens, and media facades, creating a perfect route for a relaxed night stroll.
If you enjoy night views, seasonal atmospheres, and meaningful urban spaces, this Seoul Station route is worth adding to your itinerary.
A Night Date Begins at Seoul Station
Seoul Station has become a lively night destination with various attractions clustered between the main station building and Lotte Outlet.
Sculptures such as the New Year-themed installation and the iconic I Love Seoul display create natural photo spots, while a balloon sculpture tied to a UNICEF campaign adds a warm message to the space.

Rooftop Garden and Seoul Square Media Facade
By entering Lotte Mart and heading up to the fourth floor, you can access the rooftop garden connected to Seoul Station.
During winter and the holiday season, this area is decorated with Christmas lights and resting zones, making it an ideal place to pause and enjoy the city scenery.

From here, the Seoul Square media facade comes into full view. Large-scale projections continuously shift between abstract visuals, daily-life silhouettes, exercise scenes, and seasonal animations.
At times, Santa Claus and Rudolph appear, enhancing the Christmas atmosphere and making the space feel festive and playful.

Walking Down to Seoullo 7017
Following the spiral concrete path down from the rooftop garden naturally leads to Seoullo 7017.
Seoullo 7017 is a pedestrian walkway reborn from an elevated road completed in 1970, reopened in 2017 as part of Seoul’s urban regeneration project.

The name reflects both its original construction year and its rebirth, as well as the seventeen pedestrian paths that connect neighborhoods across central Seoul.
Once an industrial transportation route, it now symbolizes a human-centered path into the heart of the city.
Night Views Along Seoullo 7017
Upon entering Seoullo 7017, a bright neon sign from the Seoullo PH building welcomes visitors.
Inside, a rose-themed stage equipped with a piano allows anyone to apply for small performances, adding a cultural layer to the evening walk.

As you continue toward Sowol-ro, blue-lit plants line the walkway, creating a calm and slightly surreal atmosphere.
The view opens toward the old Seoul Station building, quietly standing as a reminder of the city’s past.

Old Seoul Station and Urban Memory
The old Seoul Station building was constructed in 1922 and completed in 1925, serving as the city’s main railway station until 2003.
In the past, countless people waited overnight here to purchase holiday train tickets, making it a space filled with shared memories.

While the current Seoul Station is larger and more functional, the architectural and emotional value of the old station remains deeply significant.
From the walkway, you can once again see the Seoul Square media facade, linking past and present through light and movement.
Crossing Into Hoehyeon-dong
After crossing Sowol-ro, the scenery gradually shifts into Hoehyeon-dong.
Soft blue neon lights blend with surrounding high-rise buildings, creating a quiet but distinctly urban charm.

A Walk Where Past and Present Coexist
Seoul Station, Seoul Square, and Seoullo 7017 are places where industrial heritage and modern urban life exist side by side.
Once symbols of rapid industrialization, they have transformed into spaces for night views, seasonal events, and quiet reflection.
As the year comes to an end, strolling along Seoullo 7017 while watching the Seoul Square media facade offers a peaceful way to enjoy Seoul’s winter nights.
