Discovering The Wave: A New Attraction in Ulsan's Jangsaengpo

A new attraction has emerged in Jangsaengpo, Ulsan.
When people think of Jangsaengpo, many may recall the Whale Culture Village, the Whale Museum, the monorail, and the Whale Sea Tour boats.
Recently, I visited Jangsaengpo and explored the newly established cultural complex, The Wave.
One of the standout features is the country's first tunnel-type moving media facade, which promises to offer visitors a unique experience.
Unlike typical media art exhibitions where you stand still to appreciate the art, The Wave allows you to enjoy the visuals while riding the monorail, which is its most distinctive aspect.
The main highlight of The Wave is its large tunnel space, measuring 13.3 meters in height and 31 meters in length, showcasing a moving media facade. The media content focuses on the sea and whales of Jangsaengpo.
As the monorail moves slowly, stunning visuals unfold around you, creating the sensation of traveling underwater. The vibrant imagery depicting the sea of Jangsaengpo captivates both children and adults alike.
This innovative experience is particularly impressive, as it is not commonly found in existing tourist facilities.
The Wave is also an excellent spot for families with children. The whale-themed video content piques children's curiosity, and the monorail ride adds an element of fun akin to amusement park rides.
In recent times, many people seek interactive content rather than passive viewing experiences, and I believe The Wave successfully encapsulates this trend.
Another advantage is that it is not significantly affected by weather conditions. Visitors can enjoy a comfortable viewing experience even during hot summers or rainy days, making it a great addition to any Jangsaengpo itinerary.
Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth in front of the museum.
Ticket prices for the Jangsaengpo monorail are as follows:
Adults and teenagers (14 years and older): 11,000 won
Children (ages 3 to 13): 7,000 won
Free for children under 36 months
50% discount for Ulsan Nam-gu residents
Monorail rides start from the second floor of the Lotte building next to the Whale Museum.
The monorail route includes: Whale Museum → Whale Ecology Experience Center → Whale Sea Tour Boat Dock → Wales Fantasium → Whale Culture Village → Whale Museum (circular route).
Duration: Approximately 24 to 25 minutes.
The Wave's media facade can also be enjoyed while riding the monorail, making it a perfect complement to the ongoing hydrangea festival. The hydrangea garden you see now is currently restricted due to construction, so the monorail is the only way to view it, adding to its significance.
The Wave building is constructed with natural materials, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. The first floor houses the ticket booth for the Whale Sea Tour, and an elevator takes you to the third floor, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea in front of Jangsaengpo.
The glass-enclosed areas offer a thrilling experience, making Ulsan's Jangsaengpo a memorable tourist destination rather than just a dull city.
