Discovering the Joys of Sinjeong 1-dong Small Library

During hot weather like this, having a cool indoor space to take a break is truly precious.
Today, I would like to introduce you to the Sinjeong 1-dong Small Library, a place I visit frequently.
It's a great spot for reading books or just relaxing for a moment before an appointment.
One of the main reasons I come here often is because the books are kept in excellent condition.
I've visited several small libraries, but this one is particularly well-maintained, making reading a pleasant experience.
Even during the sweltering summer, it's a great place to stop by and enjoy a refreshing read without any pressure.
Currently, there is a reading contest running until July 31st.
While themes related to the future are encouraged, you can also choose your own topic.
Although the prize details weren't specified, I was informed that cultural gift certificates are usually awarded.
When I visited, around ten participants had already registered, so if you're interested, you might want to join before the deadline!
Before you go, here are a few things to keep in mind:
✔️ The library is closed during lunch hours (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM).
If you plan to visit, it's best to avoid this time. I arrived after 2 PM, and the door was still closed, but they let me in shortly after.
Make sure to knock lightly if the door is still closed after 2 PM!
Inside the library, you must wear indoor slippers. There are also small slippers for children, making it convenient for families.
The library is equipped with various facilities, including an accessible restroom for those with disabilities, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone.
One reason I love visiting with my child is the wide selection of children's books available.
While some small libraries have limited options, Sinjeong 1-dong Small Library has many popular titles for kids.
There are various picture books suitable for children around two years old, and my child enjoys exploring the books every time we visit.
Even when my child pulls out multiple books, the volunteers kindly let us know that we can just put them in a basket, which I greatly appreciate.
However, parents should be cautious as there are stairs inside the library, and young children need to be supervised closely.
My two-year-old was constantly going up and down the stairs, so I had to keep a watchful eye.
It's a wonderful space as long as you use it safely.
Personally, my favorite spot is the bean bag area. My child loves lying on the bean bags and reading, and once I joined in, I ended up dozing off!
After being reminded that sleeping is not allowed, I quickly got up, realizing I should visit before lunch next time.
During my visits, I've noticed that many people come in the morning to borrow books, while students often arrive after school around 4 PM to read.
However, there is only one table, so it might be a bit cramped for studying or using a laptop.
In conclusion, Sinjeong 1-dong Small Library may not be large, but it has many advantages that make it a place I frequently visit.
