As the season of vibrant greenery arrives, the desire to escape somewhere light-heartedly often strikes. I recently visited a fantastic spot in Ham-an that is still relatively unknown.
While walking along the Gwangnyeocheon walking path near the Chilwon Xi apartment complex towards Ham-an, a large park with clean and modern facilities came into view.
Known as Oggok Sports Park or Ham-an Oggok Playground, this place is recognized by local residents as an ideal spot for children to play.
It is conveniently located right next to the Chilwon Water Recycling Center, making it easy to find. (Just search for 'Chilwon Water Recycling Center'!)
With a spacious parking lot and clean restrooms, it's perfect for visiting with kids on weekends. The well-maintained facilities show a deep consideration for parents bringing young children, reflecting a commitment to hygiene.
As a newly opened park around 2024, Oggok Sports Park boasts immaculate and well-maintained facilities. It is an ideal space for office workers and local residents to enjoy sports, not just during the day but also in the cool evening breeze.
A stunning stage facility resembling an outdoor performance venue is also set up on one side, which will likely host various cultural events, concerts, and festivals for the community in the future.
The playground at the park entrance features play equipment made of natural wood, radiating warmth instead of cold plastic or metal structures. The wooden playground harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding greenery, creating a visually soothing and safe environment for children to play.
The ground of the playground is covered with thick, cushioned elastic mats, ensuring safety for kids who might fall while playing.
One of the most popular and thrilling highlights for kids is the 'Wooden Rail Zipline Swing.' This unique play equipment offers a speed and thrill that is on a different level from ordinary swings.
It consists of sturdy wooden pillars with a strong wire rail connected horizontally. The true joy of this equipment lies in the interactive play between parents and children.
When a child sits on the safe circular saddle and holds onto the handles, a parent can push with all their might, sending the child soaring to the end of the rail, only to bounce back slightly in the air, creating an exhilarating moment for the child.
This isn't just a passive swing where kids sit alone; it encourages parents to participate physically, fostering a deeper bond and love within the family.
If kids get tired or need a break from the heat, shaded areas are available for resting, making it a perfect spot for parents while the children play.
Another unique feature of this park is the 'Barefoot Clay Path' located behind the soccer field. This well-maintained path, made of quality clay, allows visitors to enjoy the health benefits of walking barefoot.
During my visit, I saw many local seniors taking off their shoes and socks to enjoy the soft touch of the clay while chatting and walking together.
Children can expend energy in the playground, parents can relax on benches, and seniors can walk the clay path, creating a perfect environment for family happiness in one space.
In the clear and open natural environment, Ham-an Oggok Playground ensures fun and health for the whole family. Grab your children's hands this weekend and embark on a pleasant healing journey to the hidden gem, Oggok Sports Park in Ham-an.
